Furious with Mercedes financial advice plz
I returned my c 63 last month and just received my lease end statement. To my surprise my charges are 1873.54 dollars for tires. I am furious because I purchased the first class lease insurance. They are saying because I returned the car with hankooks tires that aren't the oem speed rating they are not covered. So obviously I'm pissed. They are pretty much screwing me over the fine print. I would have kept my bald piece of **** pirellis if I would have known. It's such bull**** because I bought the first class lease insurance specifically because I know our cars eat tires. I'm not paying then a dime and will try to fight this to the end.
Do you guys have any advice?
Thanks.

I thought the first class lease protection covers 3.5K of damages incl tires and rims with single incident of 1.5K max? I was going to return mine (also in Ontario) with bald tires too....this is concerning

Supposely becuase the speed rating of the tires I returned weren't the OEM speed rating they are not honoring the first class lease protection. I think 92 instead of 95 or something

My friend leased a GLK & before he returned it, they came to his house to inspect the car like he was a thief. Lol
He also had the first class lease protection but ended up paying 1xxx$ more in penalty. Needless to say he will never lease a Benz again. He now has a Lex & BMW. Lol

Really sucks because Mercedes is one of my favourite brands. I was planning on getting the new e 63. Needless to say if this doesn't get resolved I will never own another Mercedes on principal.

You should have used the forum to your advantage and used the search button. Tires are the one thing that can always get dinged on a lease return. Many members have gone through the same experience.
When it comes to tires you have to return it with like for like. Some dealerships have even dinged guys for having 265's instead of 255's

Honestly I never thought I would have a problem. I bought the lease protection specifically for the tires. I still don't understand what the differ ce between a bald 92 speed rating compared to a bald 95 speed rating. They are double charging me. Not only are they not using the insurance they are also charging me for brand new tires.
If you let them know you're getting an E63, they will waive it.

I wish my SA would have told me that. But regardless I think it absolutely redickoulous that it make a difference. What does it matter they have to replace the tire regardless. The entire situation stinks to me. Probally will never own another Mercedes now. Really sucks because I love merecdes.

Anyone ever lease an Audi? They screwed me so bad I was walking funny for a week. These guys quote an an aggressive residual and values tank they have to get their money so they stick it to you on lease turn in. My MB salesmen is also a friend and he told me things have gotten really tight in the last year or so and MB is whacking everyone.

We just returned my GFs C300. Least was not due until April 2013. She was 4k over the mileage (40k total), door dings galore, broken foglight and bald tires plus it got in an accident 2x! Leased a new GLK350 that was 2x4 fully loaded minus HIDs and Keyless go MSRP was $46K and they ate everything on the C300. $2,000 down and $530 bucks monthly payment for a 36 month 36k Miles lease including all maintenance. Residual was $26K for GLK. I think we got a good deal considering how f-ed up her C300 was. Now of she could only drive a car like it was not a bump car If you lease a new car and you know some people they will basically let you get away with murder on a new lease.
PS the Navi and tech toys on the GLK makes me want to get rid of my C63 lol

When I leased my 2009 C63 I did not purchase lease protection. I did do a search on here and on Google about what to expect on lease return and did return my car with properly specified tires and had no issues whatsoever. I intentionally chose tires that matched OEM size and ratings. I got a BMW after that.

They can't CPO a car with worn tires, they would have to replace them regardless. Can't say why it would matter on what tires they are going to trash when reconditioning it. Are you sure it's the dealer not just trying to re-coupe the recon costs or is MB financial charging you ?

92 and 95 are load ratings. speed ratings are in letters. w y z v etc...not that it matters. cpo cars will always get factory recommended spec tires. meaning pirelli, continental, michelin, bridgestones but only certain models of those brands. And after experiencing lots of different tires i know exactly why.

It cost's the DEALER $2500 to certify the car as a CPO. MB is FLOODED with lease returns, the dealer has to negotiate with MBFS to keep the car to sell.
The contracts are very plainly worded. Most use outside companies that follow strict procedures and give NO leeway. What insurance replaces WORN TIRES-especially on a C63? Only way around lease inspections are by 1) leasing ANOTHER car or 2) leasing or buying another brand with the dealer simply paying your buyout and taking possession of the car.
Fact is-**** is tight now, the days of people getting over are gone-UNLESS MORE MONEY is out of your pocket so they selll another car.
