Wow

Came across a modded z06 today, he kept trying to race me so i bit the bait after 10 minutes of him revving and what not. Mods on the z06 are headers, catless exhaust. My mods, EC v4 tune, catless. We raced about 6 times, and i pulled EVERY single time. Reached speeds of 140 and i was still 1/2 car length ahead. After we finished, he came next to me, put his thumbs up and left.

Beat an EVO with aftermarket turbos, downpipes intercooler.
Neck and neck with an E55 that has an intercooler, tune, catless exhaust. He pulled almost half a car length ahead at 130.

Well, im confused and VERY impressed what the C can do. I thought stock z06's ripped our c63s? The e55 is an amazing car as well.

Note: My car stock used to pull on every other c63 i have come across.

That is all!

Z06 stock hit 60mph in 3.7 seconds. I highly doubt a C63, even modded, could take a modded Z06. Perhaps he had some issues or his Z06 was an old, old model?

Z06 stock is kind of C63 BS stock competition.

That was my assumption also. It was an '11, manual. Guess he just didn't know how to shift properly?

Yeah, then again it all depends on so many things on the day. I've taken a CL65 the other day and beat it. I've also beat a standard vette, a modded evo x, an M6 and a new Camaro ZL1. I guess there's times when they can also beat me. Am running an OE tune running 98 ron fuel. Beat all after the tune.

A newer Z06 will give you a beating. They are 3200lbs and 500hp stock. Guy couldn't drive.

Wow - congrats Maroon63 on taking the Z06!

Sam, I know you have some other internal mods, but you are getting me excited for my OE tune lol. I am going for a tune and Dyno tomorrow (I have the flashloader, but it is a very new version...long story, but suffice to say the guys at OE tuning are top notch and I am overjoyed I went with them)...

LOL - No internal mods. The only mechanical modded work I've done is replace the resonator with straight stainless steel pipes and replace the secondary cats with an X pipe. I've read the X pipe adds approximately 5HP or so. Don't know if it's true or not but other than that, it's just the tune I had.

Since the tune I've taken a few cars which were very close before but now if I pull up to a car at the lights, I kind of know if I can take it or not now

Good luck and please post up snaps of when those rims arrive!

Video of me and the E55 being dead even. Those torque monsters are amazing!
Last video, the e55 started first , then the evo, then me, but i braked as soon as i passed the evo in the last run. Enjoy!

Z06 is a beautiful monster. Any experience behind the wheel of one? I've always had an itch for those zr1's.

Judging by trap speeds, I'd guess that a stock C6 Z06 is about even with a LTH + tune C63.

Cool story but there is no way you would beat such a setup. You wouldnt even beat a stock one.

Any Z06 from 2006 to present would easily handle a tuned C63. From a roll it even handled a tune/header C63 with ease.

Tune Only C63 Vs Z06

So you would rather take a really expensive but lower performing car just because it has a MB badge rather than a Chevy badge? I guess it depends on whether you want to buy a car for status or for actual results.

The new C7 Corvette is a real step up in interior quality, is all aluminum and carbon fiber and will wipe the matt with any car MB can throw at it on a road course or in a drag race... especially the Z06/ZR1 variants. The BASE car is almost 1,000 lbs less than a C63 with similar power/torque and they are putting a true DCT transmission in it. The Z06 variant will likely sell for not way more than a C63 and will not even be in the same league performance wise... it will make even the SLS seem slow I will bet. With the new Vette, the only reason to not consider it will be badge snobbery. It may not be someone's cup of tea... looks are subjective and some value luxury more than pure performance which is a valid consideration... but the "it's only a Chevy" argument is ridiculous at this point.... unless someone thinks a MB badge helps improve their "perceived" status to the masses.

Interior of the car doesn't seem right. Just had one as a rental last week. That's just me.

I don't disagree with the C6... the C7 is much better. I could get over the interior either way for the performance... if I didn't need a back seat.

Interior is on par with a C63. Maybe a little less "tight". There are a few more rattles over time. As far as everything else there is simply no comparison between the Z06 and the C63. I have both as you know and I can drive my C63 all week and maybe get 1 slight nod or thumbs up. The Z06 is a magnet and gets attention from all ages daily. Aside from that it can back up its looks with ridiculous performance. But the comparison is silly as they are two very different types of cars.

The C7 is pretty hot but I hate the taillights. They should have stuck with the round signature vette lights. Now it looks like a camaro. I wont be upgrading.

sadly i have to agree..

There is no way in hell a tune only c63 will beat a Zo6 till 140..am sorry just not happening. You might have won that race, but take this as a word of advice, a healthy one with a good driver will show you its lights each time from a roll.

Stock can give a good beating to allot of the AMG/M/Audi RS line up and many sport cars for that matter.

its like Teflon on wheels lol, light and slippery as fck , not really fair to compare with.

Moded is game over .

Vet has a few major draw backs though:
1. It has no traction down low for street racing (1rst/ 2nd gear are useless)
2. You need a large set of ballz to push one to the limits
3. Rattling cheap interior
4. It's a nightmare not to scratch the under body on large speed pumps and you will find your self continuously extending you neck to look for pot holes & speed pumps, to maneuver around
5. cop magnet in a bad way

Nope never drove one. Would love to drive a ZR1.

Seen plenty of them at the road course and drag strip. They are no joke. Light weight 3200lbs and easy as **** to mod.

Pretty good summation.

#1 With the brick run flats I agree. Change them out for NT05's and your in business with a good driver who knows how to handle the Z06. To much slip and the clutch is on the floor. Not enough and she bogs. To much throttle and she spins. It is the hardest car I have ever driven.

#2 This is true as you will find yourself north of 170 MPH in a VERY short amount of time with another gear to go no less.

#3. I think the vette is on par with the C63 as far as leather quality. The dash on my ZL3 package is superior to the C63 rubber feel dash. The Nav is better in the C63 but the flip up screen is lame. My shifter rattles at low rpm in 6th gear due to drone. Otherwise pretty solid.

#4 Horribly low to the ground. I find myself slowing down to almost a stop on certain intersections because I will bottom out hard if I dont. This causes major risks getting rear ended as people don't understand what your doing and why.

#5 I havent been pulled over once. Cops around here respect the Z06 way more than the MB. They look at MB people as snooty rich who can afford the ticket. They look at the Chevy as a working mans muscle car. Drive 160 MPH and your fair game though. LOL

Put it this way: In the best DA I could muster the "Tune Only" C63 ran an 11.5. In similar DA at an inferior track the Z06 ran a 10.86. Stock.
