Yeah man - I'm particularly surprised about this. There's definitely got to be a reason for cracking - quite possibly from too low tire pressure. That said

I'm wondering if the cracked rims are due to US roads, and was therefore found not fit for US distribution by AMG.
Since its OEM everywhere else, I wonder if they have been reports of cracking outside the US?
BTW, thanks for this informative post, and valuable service. I'm tempted to get a set everyday.

Looks OK Jimmy but I was confused about two things:
It says set of BRAND NEW and he makes an emphasis on the Brand New part but then says two wheels were repaired as they had marks on them. Not sure how a set of new wheels (and two from a set of four), would have marks on them. Also seems like an internet photo rather than a self-taken photo? Perhaps ask them to take a photo of the rear of it with the part number and the made in Germany or the manufacturer stamp across the width of the rim.
Price wise, you have to be *****ing me! 7000 US Dollars for a set of them?

Thanks for taking a look for me. The ad has been running for months so I wonder whether yer man has been selling a few sets, some brand new and in boxes some with minor repairs etc but keeps using the same ad. His 100% feedback suggests he has plenty of happy customers. I might go inspect them now that I know what to look for.
However even at these prices for us Aussies to import wheels and tyres is not worth it. Believe it or not but used rubber causes all sorts of quarantine issues so you need permits and inspections which all cost. Then you incur holding charges while the AQIS inspectors do their bit not to mention all the other middlemen along the way - shipping agents/cargo handlers/freight forwarding companies/storage depots/couriers etc - all grabbing their slice of your hard earned. And almost forgot the Customs people are lining up as well, to hit you up for various duties and charges and inspection fees. Absolute racket. You would probably be better off flying over to Europe and bringing them back in a suitcase!!

I would like to find out more info about this cracking cause I've never heard of this before now. Not sure what the exact circumstances were but two back rims both cracking has to be for a very good reason. I can only imagine a massive hole in the road, driving at crazy speeds over a bump with wrong tire pressure or just using wrong tire pressure. If people are so concerned, stick a 35 profile on the rear instead of a 30.

I wonder if the cracking problem is caused by the lower profile of the tires compared to the OEM 18" rim/tire combo. I want to buy some 19" OEMs as well, but if they are prone to crack, that wouldn't do. What do you guys suggest? (I live in Miami BTW, some potholes, not too many)

I am not saying this because I am trying to sell rims I mean I am but I'd rather be honest and open than trying to sell dodgy rims.
Cracking is definitely for a reason, it would not happen with the correct tire pressure under correct driving but it could possibly happen by driving through a hole in the road at quite high speeds and/or with low pressure in the tires. It seems this happens to people mostly on the rear but I haven't heard of it over here. One option would be to put a 35 sidewall on the rear instead of a 30.

I think that a 35 series tire will be too tall. A 255/35/R19 tire will be 1" larger in diameter than a stock OEM 255/30/R19. A 275/35/R19 tire will be 1.5" larger in diameter than a stock OEM 255/30/R19. You should probably go one series size larger on the front as well to keep things relatively balanced.

It is one option but not a guaranteed result. Some replicas come slightly heavier, some quite a bit heavier, some slightly lighter, some quite a big lighter and some near identical within a few hundred grams. When you add a tire weight to the equation, you will never know 100%. Where there's a will, there's a way.

LOL - if the replicas ever do become indistinguishable, then I would take them for $700 - 800 for four over the $4000 from the stealerships and the like.
If anyone is interested, there's a set of original brabus 19" wheels available wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12s. Amazing Price! To be honest, I didn't get chance to examine the tires but they look quite good from what I did see. Any way, the money is in the wheels not the tires and at this price, it's a deal no one wants to miss. Not chipped or curbed but definitely need a good wash.

What's pretty Ironic is that this f***ed piece of dog excrement C-63AMG (Sam) member from Dubai/UAE who started this post/conversation about replica wheels trying to educate and warn everyone, actually sold me cracked and replica wheels when he had a set for sale. I got them shipped to me and all over the inside in Arabic it was written cracked and bent. Then after selling them to me just disappeared...
Hope he is suffering some delicious Karma.
Moral of story: Buy New Wheels if you at all can and only used if you really trust the source. Wheels are not something to joke around with.

I’m all for Grade A Fake’s, at Grade A Fake prices I’ll add. The OEM wheels crack too easy so, a cheap set that looks the same is the better option for regular use if you ask me, and keep the OEM for when you sell on.
