Wannabe C63 AMG
 

I have a 2008 C200 (204) and it's been a great reliable car. I see many postings of the AMG 63 engine on ebay and I'm wondering if it will be possible to put this into my car. What other parts would be required for this modification to work? Are there example of other people trying to do this? Thanks for advise.

i feel like this would be a nightmare project. you would probaly have to swap out your whole transmission too

it might not fit as well. I know the C63 body is about 6" longer ... is definitely a physically bigger engine.

Why ? That is a total waste of money, resources, and time.

Just drive your car and take some good vacations. Or get a pre-owned c63 if you love it that much. Or if you want to get your speed fix in, just go to the AMG driving academy.

Are you sure? Mbusa site states exact same dimensions for c63 and c class

some people are serious gearheads, like my old pals that used to transplant E55 engines into their C43's, but i agree that i don't think the engine would easily fit in the non-AMG W204 chassis. plus the tranny should probably be changed. i second the motion of getting a used C63.

mbusa has been known to be incorrect at times :D i know, it really shouldnt happen but it does

if you look at just the front side fender profile (where the c63 has the vents) you can visibly see it is indeed longer

Yes - 100%. The hood / engine / bumper on the C63 is longer than the standard W204. The Brabus is based on the W204 body and not the C63 one.

Lets see.. new hood/front end (fenders, bumper). You would have to replace the transmission, cooling system as a whole (oil and air), exhaust system, ecu components..

About the only thing you would be able to keep... the Comand radio system.. the frame.. and maybe the turn signal stalk.. everything else you would need to replace.. while a great idea for a gearhead with unlimited resources and time on his hands, and might be a fun project to to say you did it.. its really not viable.

It would most likely be more cost effective and reliable to trade in the 250 for the C63

Or to put non AMG interior in a c63.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I live in a country where a C 63 AMG costs over 300 thousand US dollars and my C200 costed a 120 grand due to the import duties. I look on Ebay and the AMG 63 engine is around 15,000 and the matching transmission is 3,000 and taxes on importing spare parts is cheaper than importing an entire vehicle. So there is a temptation for me to do the transplant.

Yes I can vouch for the fact that the C63 AMG is slightly longer than the standard W204. This is due to the fact the engineers have lengthen the engine bay to fit in all the mechanical parts and components needed for the full optimized performance of the M156. Anyhows, this does not mean the M156 engine can or cannot fit into the standard W204 engine bay, it will be a huge challenge to draw up plans to fit the M156 engine in. But if the engine and transmission is allowable, you'll still have to consider in the suspension, big brakes, etc...

This is actually common practice in Indonesia where there's also a high import tax. If you find a shop that has experience, this is certainly feasible and you can end up saving a lot of money while still having that engine, and all of the other parts that go along with it.

Trouble is- you've got to find that right shop to do all the work!
