GT-R or C63?
Hello from the w202 AMG board!
I'm looking to get a new car within the year and am stuck between the 2 cars, both of which I love (and want). The question is: what is the car I should get first? (read: better car)
I know quite a few of you on here have (or have had) both.
I've driven a 2013 C63 Sedan with the development package and a 2013 GT-R Premium...both driven HARD (I love my MB dealer and friend, respectively ).
I know the stats, figures, etc. I'm simply trying to get other drivers' opinions. Also, how bad are GT-R maintenance cost/reliability (drivetrain/diffs)?
Edit: No kids, no wife. Snow in a RWD car is not an issue, as I'm perfectly fine in my C43.

They're different cars buddy.
You want a bit of class, style, 4 door convenience and power when needed, the C63.
You want hardcore power and acceleration to boot to kill any / 99.99% of the cars on the road and like pulling off fast, the GT-R in my opinon.
I too had the choice of the two and am glad I went the C63 route. Actually it was between an M3, a C63 and a G-TR.
You know what I got

So a GT-R smoking other cars isn't considered classy?

I don't know about over there but in Dubai there's two kind's of GT-R owners.
Those who cruise around at the speed limits or just under knowing what they've got or those who go around trying to prove something to everyone at every stop light.
Hope you fall in the first category :P

If you need a car that can do it all, then the C63 is your only choice. That car can really be utilized for just about any activity. On the other hand, if life is all about the moment, you answer to no one, have no responsibilities and going very fast is paramount, the GTR is the answer.

I'd say C63, but that depends on your preferences. If you want enormous performance figures, you should go with the GT-R, but somehow i still prefer a Mercedes instead of a Nissan.

I think the GTR is pricing itself out of competition.
For 100k and if I were looking for a coupe, I would seriously start to consider Porsches and ZR1s, even the new Viper.
When the GTR first came out and it was under 80k,
It was a great buy.
To answer your question, get the C63.
Better value.

If you want practicality and daily liveability the C63... if not, the GT-R. The longer i own the C63, the more I appreciate how liveable it is while also being fantastically fast and capable.
The other option is wait a bit and get a new C7 Z06... that car will be a MONSTER with better interior than the GT-R and likely every bit as fast or faster. I am very seriously considering a C7 Corvette next year and I have never been a Corvette fan until the C7 came out.

Also, it's better to hear opinions of the GT-R from an AMG owner's perspective, since I can relate to the AMG perspective.

There's a moderator here that owns a GT-R, I think it's now modded to 600+whp. He owned a C63, modded as well. He could give you a fantastic comparison. I would consider the new Viper as well.

I haven't owned a GTR but the C63 is definitely more of a sleeper... The majority of the people I take for a ride are always saying that they've never heard a Mercedes sound like this...

Real trunk
Real back seat that can seat two adults
Less tightly sprung

I've also looked into both while deciding my car. One of the reason why I chose the C63C over the GTR is because I want a bit of class with my fun. The most important reason occured when I test drove the C63C for the first time and I fired up that engine. The sound and feeling made me smile like a child in a candy store.

I will put it to you this way. I traded in my 09 C63 Sedan for a 2010 GTR Premium.....2 months later the GTR was modded out of dd usability and I bought back my old C63 for everyday use. If you really like modding and messing with cars and doing data logs on a tuner and such, then the GTR is awesome. If you are the type that just likes to drive and not be constantly messing around with mods and installs the C63 is the only choice, but if you are going to shell out the $$$ for a GTR just go ahead and find a lightly used C63 Black Series and call it a day. Its the best car I have ever owned.

i too test drove both, but seriously the plasticiness of the nissan is unacceptable for a 100k, consider the M5 or the upcoming E63 instead, better value for your money.. but ofcourse in the end its your decision, congrats on whatever you choose

Vic is the guy that has a C63BS and a modded GTR. Do a search or send him a pm.
My 2c. 2 different animals. One is a scalpel that that takes no prisoners with a lot of computer nannies, the other one is a hammer that loves to drift and puts a smile on your face.
Both are phenomenal cars but go at it a different way. If you have driven both of them hard, you should know by now which one you want.

There's no confirmation of a C7 Z06 yet. There will be a higher performance model, but I don't know whether it will be Z06, ZR1 or both. I'm really tempted by the Z51 C7. GM says the LT1 motor will make at least 450hp. If it's 470hp or more, I don't know if I even have to wait for the Z06/ZR1.
