Looks like Chevy is following the footsteps of Hyundai.

The bonnet is near identical.

Well let's say the C63 was introduced in 07 and was on the road in 08. Chevy come out with a similar design 6 years later. I wouldn't exactly say they are ahead of the (not) competiton.

I think its nice...dont see how its a c63 rip off.

also like the seats, it has the holes for a racing harness which is a nice touch if you want to use a racing harness at the track. (cant do that with my c63 stock seats )

I don't think so. I think those are speakers which were recently introduced in some Cadillac.

Trust me when I tell u these cars have no ***** and they handle like crap.... Not near as close to a c63 and even when these holdens have exhausts and stuff put on they don't sound half as good as a standard c63

C'Mon now..."No *****"??!!.....There's plenty of LS3 owners that would not agree with you there.
For sure, I'm with you that these cars aren't in the same class as an AMG...no way known are they.....but, there's plenty of 'em around with *****....BIG ones too......simply a different type.....but for sure, they don't sound as good......what could?!
Cheers from another Aussie, Pickles.

I had the chance to see the reveal car at Daytona Speedway this past Saturday. It is what it is: A decent looking sedan/muscle car with 400+ bhp and rear wheel drive for the sub $50,000 market. Basically the ressurection of the Pontiac G8 GTS. In my opinion, not executed near as well as the AMG but not priced there either. However with the C7 coming you can buy a well optioned Z06 or 427 for C63 money at the moment. The discounts are what caused me to roll the dice and try something much different and saying no regrets is an understatement.

Agree the car looks nothing like a c63 in real life.

I have an E3 GTS pickles with the LS3, head and cam package, full exhaust, tune and intake. My coupe hosed it.

Straight line, round corners, looks, finish and sound, this Holden/Chevy is not and never will be a threat in stock or bolt on guise. Sure dollar for dollar modding will be much cheaper (eg headers back and full exhaust on the Holden/chev will be $4k and on the C63 closer to $10k) but for similar mods (putting aside cost) the M156 is so far advanced it will always have more torque and power than the LS3 or its replacement.

THis extends right as far as forced induction.

Just my $0.02.

I'm not worried at all.

Agree that the SS doesnt look like the C63 at all.
A few years back i drove a Holden Commodore SS and it was described as a poor man's M5 (V8 edition). I loved it and i would buy one if it came stateside . WHich it did as the Pontiac G8. I thought the front end was butt ugly.

Im very impressed with this car. I hope they offer it with the supercharged power plant (CTSV) I would get into that. I just hate the oversized bow tie.

^^^^ stock for stock they have nothing on the c63 but yes a few people in my area would beg to differ lol

I have raced my mate that has 420rwkw senator off the lights and I blow him every time but when he puts slicks and race fuel he runs 10 flat

I like holdens but I'd rather my c63 any day

I daily drive an LS3 Vette and find the new SS hideous to look at inside out. IMHO the C63 looks leagues better and aside from the specs on paper I do not see much similarities btwn the two cars.

I'm sporting a Corsa catback which is by far my favorite exhaust on the Vette and the C63s I drove sound much better. Of course this is subjective but the 6.2 AMG has the best exhaust note IMHO.

There's no denying this SS will be stupid fast without much investments into aftermarket parts, but this isn't surprising at all.

Interior looks to be pretty nice, however exterior and curves of the car dont really impress me. Im a bigger fan of pontiacs G8.

Make NO mistake guys......I have said basically that this car ls nothing like a C63, & will not "challenge" it at all.......and it won't.
However, if ya wanna talk value for money, this is a "damn fine piece of machinery". You'll find it a pleasant, well sorted car, with plenty of power, & plenty of interior space.
In Australia, a C63 costs around THREE TIMES the amount of an SS....so, as you can imagine...it's very good value.
Anyway, when you guys get to drive one, I'd welcome your opinions of what is basically a, "good old Aussie Icon".
Cheers, Pickles.

Quote: Aside from the power-train, I don't see any similarities. OP is just an idiot.
Agreed.

God forbid GM, or any other manufacturer for that matter, continue to build cost effective performance sedans. I betcha it'll hold it's value better than a Benz too

This is no AMG, not even close and its not meant to be.

This is the new facelift for the VE Commodore originally released in Australia in 2006.

It’s a cheap Aussie made V8 Sedan being exported to the US market and there should be more of it.

Some fast, cheap, solid cars are made here.

With a bit of luck you may even get the new Wagon and Ute variants as well.

Go the Aussies.
