Loosing Coolant Like Crazy

Loosing Coolant Like Crazy
Just bought my AMG last week and this is the second time my check coolant warning came on. They are keeping my car, its the headbolt issue. Lucky me. So now Ive got a C250 efficiency model as a loner. I give them an AMG and they give me back half my cylinders. Awesome. Well fingers crossed. Hope my new engine lasts.

What year is your 63? I'm in mobile so I can't see your info that appears in the left column ...
And I hate when they give me crappy loaners. Seems like rental agencies love to lump our 63's into the pool of regular c classes. To be fair, they should at least give us a base e class.

Vivid Racing '09 C63 AMG
It's an '09.
Read up on coolant threads and head bolt threads. This is a known issue and they will replace several components in your engine (long story short).

How many miles on the car?

My AMG is an 09 with 36,000 miles on it. They confirmed it is the head bolt problem and they will be keeping my car all week doing the upgrades. I had 15 days left on the warranty. Talk about cutting it close.

There was a class action on the headbolt issue? I knew there was one for the cams wearing but never heard about the headbolt suit.

Was the car running OK? When mine went it started to run rough.

I have asked that question from AMG people before and they confirmed that all m156 are the same. I do share this suspicion as well. The same engine went in a $140000 SL and $160000 CL so I kinda think that an invisible hand signs off the Monday and Friday engines to the Cs

Makes me bloody nervous about my 2009 C63 but at the same time not all of the 156 engines seems to have this issue.
From what Ive heard here in Sweden there has hardly been any cars with this. And still sold quite few over here.
So keeping my fingers crossed

Have headbolt will travel...
So when you say it has, "This issue," Are you saying that the headbolt head sheers off, or just warps and doesn't create a good seal?
If it's the former, i would say changing the headbolts as a preventative measure would be easier than tring to fix a headbolt without a head...

Just to answer some of he questions. My car is coming back to me tomorrow with all new head bolts and the upgraded lifters that I requested to avoid the cam wear issue. They did not say what shape the head bolts where in. I'll have to ask tomorrow it any had been sheared off. I was loosing an inch of coolant a week. The first week they just refilled it but the second week I said this looks like the head bolt issue and left the car with them.
I was going to buy an extended warranty but this problem is what I wanted protection from and it's already taken care of so now I'm not sure.

There's an aftermarket warranty they offered me that's like 48mo 60k for a little under 3k. Not too bad and about $400 cheaper than the factory extended warranty.
