Potential new c63 owner - need assistance

Hello all,

I know this is another "potential ___ owner" thread from me but hopefully you all put up with it.

Getting really bored with my Infiniti FX50 - it's worth Kbb $35k trade in.

looking at m3/c63

only CPO I found in my price range was a 09 c63 43k miles for $44k

http://www.mypreownedmercedes.com/am...gf77x49f215504

What do you think? Seems to be $1k under KBB

Looks like it has Prem II, not sure if AMG pert. package. But it's blk/grp, black maple trim (noice) looks clean and is CPO to 100k miles (very noice)

What do you c63 veterans think? I've seen a few with lower miles for a little cheaper but they are not CPO and are at random dealers not MB aka certified.

help.

updated info:
CPO - 1 owner car
Black/black
Original MSRp $66,230
packages: (~$8k in extras)
197 - Obsidian Black Metallic Paint
P02 - Premium II (inc. 540, 600, 614, 619)
057 - ipod kit
318 - AMG leather package (inc. 242, 275)
320 - Multimedia package (inc. 396, 512, 810)
732 - blk maple wood
--

KBB Value: $46xxx
carfax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...15504&zipCode=

Asking Price $43,9xx
miles 43,7xx
--

my trade in worth ~$34,5xx

updatE:
--CARFAX - CAR WAS IN ACCIDENT IN 2010 - need to ask about that.
also seems the owner brought it to cheaper local places for service and not MB dealers...pep boys for oil change?
I think it's time to get this price down.
--
I also just realized they are lying in their ad - says "No previous paint work detected" however there was an accident according to Carfax so how could this be? -- time for them to answer

Im really not interested in getting involved with a preowned that has been in an accident, even if it is CPO.

I am also planning on purchasing a C63 (I drive an M3 now). I would be very wary of pre 2011 C63's because of the head bolt issue.

Yes. this is why I want to make sure it's a CPO with the factory warranty to 100k.

Plus we have a really good relationship with our MB dealer so I know if an issue comes up I wont need to fret.
Only problem is this car in 10hrs away and NOT at our friendly dealer.
Im actually trying to work out having them get that car from the NC dealer and get it to NY for me to trade/deal with them because I can most likely get a better deal from the dealer we know (or they can help negotiate)

im a little confused though - you say m3 but your avatar says '10 c63.. Anyway, which did you prefer? I am also looking at M3 but have been unable to find a CPO that isn't priced ridiculously or one with low enough miles in my range.

Obsidian Black 2009 C63 w/ P30 Package
I recently bought one with similar specs. 2009 Obsidian Black Metallic with 33K on the clock with P30 package. However it was not a CPO and didnt have warranty left but I purchased third party warranty for 38k out the door

If you are patient you can probably find a better price. In the SF Bay Area I almost pulled the trigger on a 09 C63 with 30K mi and no performance package for $42K at a non-CPO dealer. I ended up with an 09 with 35K mi with performance package and everyting else for $39K from a private party.

Was this private or a dealer? I think this has a few more packages and is CPO, hence the pricing. maybe the mileage can be a talking point. They are still below KBB

I think there is a little wiggle room on the pricing. I have another I am looking at that is the same but has 10k less miles and a less favorable (IMO) color combo and it $3k cheaper. Aftermakt warranty will prob equal that anyway so i would prefer the CPO from a MB dealer over non-cpo.

This car is pretty much exactly the option combo I want besides performance package. I prefer blk/blk or wht/blk. Not interested in tan interiors unless the car is a good deal overall.

The only issue I am having is whether it is "worth it" to get the C-level... In my head it's still the lowest they offer despite being an AMG that can outpace more expensive AMG, etc, etc. I wish this car were closer than a 10 hr drive...

I fixed my profile, thanks for the catch. I realize there has been endless threads on the M3/C63 comparison and I ultimately decided to obtain an M3 two and a half years ago. I have decided to entertain going to the dark side now because I feel the C63 is also a superb auto. I subscribe to the analysis that the M3 is more precise, but the C63 is more fun for daily use.

I was looking at both but I think the c63 is slightly more 'practical' -but I use that term loosely.

So the car Im looking at is already priced $2.5k under KBB value, and he said there was a little wiggle room. - $43.9
I looked up my car on KBB - most I can get for trade is probably $35.
Im still trying to spend less than that... Where do you think talking points are
? Do you guys think the CPO is really "worth it" with all of these possible issues or do you think it's better to fin the best priced one value wise and go aftermarket warranty?

my wife bananas! :D
get MB certified / CPO everytime.

at least a bit more peace of mind and if anything happens / develops after you buy within a reasonable period of time, they usually will fix it on goodwill.

Why do you think the M3 is less practical? It has been as reliable as any Lexus and a lot more fun. You want impractical, you should look at the Italians.

At least with an M3 CPO, the coverage is less than a good after market extended warranty. I had a conversation with my SA (at BMW) and he pointed out the CPO coverage from BMW does not cover things like the navigation and radio, while Easy Care (extended warranty) is better and cheaper. Now with a CPO they do re-condiditon and repair items prior to sale, but you're are paying for this service.

This was indeed at a dealership. And alot of haggling and 3 trips back to get a deal done.

I was patient. Dealer was not

AMG GLC63. Audi R8
Get the engine number and check it against the head bolt sticky. Money aside, you're better off getting a later model without the issue of potential head bolt failure.

If you're willing to look on the west coast I have a 2009 C63 for sale w/ CPO till 2014. It only has close to 38k miles, and it's listed for $42.5k

From my research on here...All 2009 fall under the bad batch. And early to mid 2010 built years were affected as well.

That aside it doesnt mean all 2009 are destined to fail thou.

Spoke to the salesman extensively

The accident was the previous owner scraping a pillar in a parking garage, so no serious damage.... I guess it wouldnt be CPO if it was serious.

however,
they are giving me a little under black book for my car and not budging on the price despite the "bad" car fax and extra miles, insisting the CPO process and all this work they did justifies it.

it seems to be a great car, and I wish it was local for me to go look at myself, and the salesman seemed helpful enough, but the numbers aren't lining up as I hoped.

I figured I would be financing maybe 7k tops, which I probably would have paid 5 of then the other 2 in the summer....

but They're wanting 12.5k after my trade-in. I'm not trying to do that right now.

Maybe if the car is still sitting there in a month after I'm done with school I'll go look at it and try and get them down in person, but right now it's just not going to happen.
I may try and sell privately then look around and be carless for a bit.

We'll see what happens in a month when school's done.
