2011 C63 P31 with Velos Tune
Hey Guys,
I am just wondering what difference I should be looking for in my car after tuning it. I have the P31 and bought a Velos handheld tuner and after installing it I hardly noticed any difference. I got my car dyno'd to see what the difference in horse power and torque was and it was only 5WHP and 18WTQ difference. This is a far ways off of the 50HP and 40TQ difference I was told would happen. The customer support at Velos has been fairly good so far, and they have sent me multiple maps to try, but they still dont make the car feel like a "whole new beast" like a lot of people claim it does.
I am just wondering if I am expecting too much from this tune. I had a Cobb Accessport on my Mitsubishi before this car and it made a world of difference. I understand that since it was turbo charged it would have had an easier time gaining power due to the increase of boost.
What are some tests or comparisons I can do to help see the difference? Because honestly just straight acceleration feels about the same. I know companies commonly over estimate the power gain from a tune, but a 5hp gain is hardly worth it.

Yet further proof that aftermarket tunes do very little for otherwise stock P31 cars. Guys, if a tune is all you're planning on for a P31 car, save your money! Now if you have longtube headers or a supercharger in your future, then my all means, tune away.

I have battled with myself over tuning only the p31. Almost all reported that the results were not conclusive. I saw a couple of positive experiences with the Eurocharged and OE for p31 so I just purchased a handheld from EC. In the mail as of this post. We shall see if the butt dyno detects any improvements. I will report promptly.
There are a couple of ongoing threads with EC and OE tune specials. Follow those to see if anyone reports similar or otherwise to what op is stating.

Jeez, that sucks... I never saw your thread or I would have known better. Do you have any proof that it is the same as the P31? I did see gains with it, just nothing near what they advertise.

I've always been on the fence about getting a tune for this exact reason, bang for the buck! I witnessed a P31 only gain 10whp & about the same torque as yours which would've been only about 5whp on mine, same day same dyno. Maybe it's the altitude, maybe the gas you use or maybe you just have an over achiever which is what I believe I have.

Not sure why you're surprised. Velos only advertises 498hp, which is one of the lowest horsepower aftermarket tunes. Stock P31 is 481hp. The gains sound about right to me. You should have looked into one of the more aggressive tunes, which supposedly produce 540hp, which I cannot confirm is a true figure.
