I Ran 193.33mph At The Michigan Mile With My C BS

I just returned home last night from running my Weistec C BS in the Michigan Mile standing 1 mile speed event on Sunday. This was a pretty cool event that I just found out about a few weeks ago. A 3 day standing 1 mile roll event at W. K. Kellogg airport in Battle Creek, MI. being under 3 hours from my home I figured I should participate. This was the first year for the event and in my opinion it was a well organized event.

Each day was limited to about 35 cars, on the first two days people were getting to make 6+ passes which anyone who has attended one of the airstrip events knows is a decent number of runs. on Sunday I only made 4 passes because the first session got cut short due to a car crashing on the return road/taxi way(yep, I am not kidding, the return road) and I was quickly icing between runs. The races were run in conjunction with the airshow so cars would run for about about an hour, then we would have to wait a couple hours for the airshow stuff and then we would run for another hour or so and so on.

My first pass was a 190.51mph, second pass was a 193.33mph, third pass was an identical 193.33(what are the odds) and fourth pass was only 185.70mph(terrible wheel spin up over 100mph). I took 3rd place overall in the event, 2nd place was a tt Nissan 300ZX that went 194mph, and 1st place was a Switzer R1K GT-R that went 213mph.

Jake from Eurocharged was out there with his E55 but not sure what he was trapping. Eurocharged was an event sponsor. Thank you to him and his crew for welcoming us into their sponsor tent and sharing some cold soft drinks between runs.

This is the fourth airstrip event I have attended this year and it by far had the best track surface and the longest and widest track 150ft x 10,000ft. The event was well organized considering it was their first big event. Having done so many of these events I have seen it all, the good aspects and the bad aspects. I have a few suggestions that I will be forwarding to the event organizers for future events, like next time make it a side by side event if possible, and allowing crew members into final staging area, but all in all it was a great event. Hopefully they will do a little better job of promoting their next event and get some even faster cars out to their next one, I will be entering my CLK in their next event for sure. The only reason I did not run the CLK was they do not allow DR's or skinnies and that is all I have for the CLK with it's current brake and suspension set-up.

I will post a link to the official event results as soon as they post it.

Event promotor was taking lots of high quality video, I had GoPros but since it was not a side by side event the GoPro footage I have is pretty lame. I will post links to video here as the event organizer posts vids and results. I do have some awesome video of some of the airshow stuff

Congrats! The GT-R was my buddy Jermey's. He embarrassed me after the winter on his "Baby Tune" when he was burning off stabilizer. Ill try to find the video....

He is a nice guy, and his car is fast, we chatted a bit at the hotel in the morning and a little bit at the track. I think my car suprised him a bit, I think it suprised almost everyone at the event actually, hell it suprised me I was predicting 188-189mph for my car.

Jim, that's amazing. I was out there at the MI Mile on Saturday running my ZR1, you beat me by 10mph. How much boost are you running on that car now?

As everyone has said 193mph is hauling ***!

10.5-11 psi boost. I am just running the standard Wesitec Stage 3 which makes about 10.5psi with the standard 67mm pulley included with the stage 3 kit.

Jims car hauls @ss....It was awesome to see in person.

Gad you made it out man, I will have to keep ya informed of other events like this that we are doing.

The car sounds like a freaking fighter jet as its rolling...I will have to get some video up that I got when I was at the finish line.

...and his car was barely even making a sweat...could have pushed it way further..

Same set-up as I have run in the three other 1/2 mile events I ran this year. 660ish whp, on the standard 67mm pulley. My C BS is a pretty much standard out of the box Wesitec Stage 3, pump gas tune etc. (although I was running race fuel in the tank). The only part of my car that differs from a standard Weistec Stage 3 is I have some road race cooling mods for the trans and oil cooler, besides that it is the same stuff anyone can call up Weistec and order for their M156. No funny business here, anyone with a Stage 3 would be putting up similar trap speeds.

Well done on the great run. Not sure if you use a VBox but any idea what your trap was at the 1km mark?

Those cooling mods are the secret to keeping constant power.

The SLS BS build will be impressive. I will be going with the Weistec 3.0L M159 system on that car as well. Should make in the neighborhood of 750 wheel and that combinied with being nearly 500 pounds lighter and better drag coefficient than my C BS should make for some very interesting trap speeds at an event like this one. My CLK will be the real monster, it should be toying with traps speeds in the 220mph range in a mile I would guess.

I did have my V Box in the car, I must be an idiot and can not figure out how to download the data and extract certain numbers. I was really interested in my 60-130. I have a friend that is good with that stuff and I will ask him to find that data for me. I will let you know what I find out and post the results.

For an extended road course stint, yes. I do not think the cooling mods give me any benefit for the 1/4, 1/2 or 1 mile runs. I do not think the car builds enough heat in those short bursts. I have hot lapped the CLK which as you know makes a ton more boost than my C BS and boost = heat and not seen any heat issues witht he CLK in the 1/4 or 1/2 and the CLK does not have any cooling mods. The cooling mods were something I requested on the C BS, probably overkill but nice insurance when I am pushing the car hard on a road course in 90-100 summer temps for 20-30 minute sessions.

Thanks for that. 1km is the norm in my part of the woods so would be cool to see what you ran and also how my car stacks up vs the black series.

This was not a prepped track surface, traction was limited and I was getting lots of wheel spin so if you are trying to compare my 1000 ft to a 1000ft on a prepped drag strip I think the numbers will be off.

Runs here are on a dusty airfield as well. If you run 300km/h or more you a national hero so I am hoping for that on the high boost.

It appears you are going to be a national hero then....My worst run of the day was over 185mph and like I said earlier I spun the tires up to 100mph on that pass.
