Does Sirius v.MY0.78 ring a bell?
I've spoken with Sirius XM a few times about the distortion (overly lossy compression?) in Sirius radio that causes me to turn it down, and then off in about a half hour of listening. I've gone 6 months with my first paid subscription never bothering to turn Sirius on. Sirius talked me into renewing again for the third time but I figure I've listened to it for only 10 hours in the past 5 months.
Checking threads in the MB World sub-forums yields a number in which posters state something to the effect of "Sirius sounds like crap in my Merc but's great in the Subaru and the wife's Lexus." Well I called to cancel for the third (and final) time tonight and they put me through to technical support who told me this was a known issue with M-B in v.MY0.78 radios. Does anyone know anything about this?

No idea, bud. Could it be an antenna reception issue? I don't really seem to have issues with my sound quality, but I know it's not going to be anywhere close to playing a CD or MP3.

It's digital, you either get the signal (and audio) or you don't. I've had Sirius in all my previous cars, BMWs, VWs, and Mercedes, and the quality has been going downhill because they're constantly lowering the bitrate to fit in more channels. It sounds like crap in every car. I was a subscriber since day 1, and finally cancelled 2 years ago.

yep its crap in every car, sounds like some one is just washing some hihat cymbals for white noise constantly. shame they still only play 6hr loops instead of not repeating songs. Although better than 1hr loops - although regular and hd radio do have better sound quality.
