According to wikipedia, there were only 150 722s roadsters made. That is a very rare car! Congrats! I can't even imagine how much one of these costs in Australia, considering a regular C63 is more than twice as expensive there when compared to the US.
Have you taken delivery yet? If so, how about describing the driving experience?

If this is the case then he will be up for lets call it AUD$500k for the car, then $50k in GST, $25k customs duty, $135k in Luxury Car Tax, plus a little for transport and insurance.
My guestimate is approx. $700k landed, before the registration.
Yes we get ripped here in Australia. They try to make the taxes ridiculous to try and save the local manufacturers.

It looks like he is importing it from the UK. Park Lane is in London.

So what local manufacturers are they trying to protect from an SLR?
How big is the car industry in Australia? The only Australian manufacturer I have heard about is Holden.

We get taxed 33% on all car purchases above $60k. Its called Luxury Car Tax, so if you can afford an expensive car, you can afford to pay more tax. e.g. you buy a $100k car, you pay $100k-$60k=$40k x 0.33 = $13k extra in luxury car tax.
When importing a car, you pay 10% on top for GST (good services tax, we pay this on everything imported above $1000), the 5% for customs duty then 33% for every dollar over $60k, on top of all of that, if it all, including the car, transport, insurance, GST, customs duty etc...
We do have 2 other manufacturers which is Ford and Toyota, but that is closing all its Australian manufacturing plants in October 2016.
Holden needs government handouts to stay afloat, getting $500m in the last 2 years alone. I remember reading it was something like $2bn over the past 10 years.
The government is trying to protect local jobs and boost its tax revenue by having these ridiculous taxes in place.

Well done. That is a very rare and respectable vehicle.
I can't wait to hear some comparisons between it and your other cars.
I wonder how much it would cost to import a C63 black to Australia?

Wow, now I feel like a bit of a ******. Not actually a real purchase, that title was a bit of a joke...I just wish it was a real purchase!. I am holidaying in Europe at moment and first stop is London, was walking around park lane and saw this in shop window and had to have a look as apart from the CLK DTM, this is my favourite model AMG. For a 2 gbp donation the shop lets you come in a nf photgraph/caress the cars. In the flesh it is just stunning, and appeared so much wider than my SL63. It was simply incredible - although they I forget to polish the exhaust tips ! They wanted GBP385k for this car. There was also a bunch of bespoke built Porsches from tuner Ruf - I will never look at a simple 911 again the same way as well as the Veyon le mans edition and a 1 of 25 edition Zonda. Some more pics below:

RR Evoque Dynamic, Benz Valente (work hack)
LOL, only an Aussie would be questioning that.
The car isn't road legal in Australia and I would love to see the LCT (luxury Car tax), GST and import duty one would have to pay on that car.
