I agree. This isn't the only place I've heard that though...
Chris Harris on Cars - who I find pretty entertaining FWIW, always speaks about reving high being "amazing" and "fun", etc...
Just something I never "got".

I had a E90 M3 for 18 months and the high reving thing didn't do much for me either. I actually say it was quite annoying for daily driving. I'll take power everywhere as opposed to power only at the top end.

Plus the sound of a high reving engine is very different through the range, going from low to high pitch, which is great. Low end torque is definitely better in daily driving though.

2010 C63
I had a good drive of a friends M3 coupe before deciding which way to jump. I wanted an everyday practical fun car and I was happy to not be the quickest at the ocasional track day. I compare the two vehicles as kitchen knives.
Everyday you use your big cooks knife for just about everything and it rarely lets you down - the C63.
Sometimes you need a filleting knife for fine fine work - it will also do other work but the cooks knife is easier - the M3.

Loved the way my E93 looked..still think its one of the best looking cars out there when modded BUT like others have echo'ed, there wasn't any torque so it was like driving a civic in traffic
(maybe thats a bit of an extreme comparison haha)
