Res Delete?

Hey guys...I'm getting pipes put in tomorrow and I'm on the fence about getting the res delete or not...some have said do it some have said no...I've been trying to find videos of straight with res but can only find x or h with res delete...I know matt had just straights I think with the res and it sounded great...does getting rid of the res really increase the sound all that much? I read that you can't get the res put back in if you wanted to later down the road? thanks in advance

It will drone hard without. Be sure if u like the droning or not (would say 90% ppl dont like it).
No additional gain frm the deletion, saving maybe 10lbs of weight. My guess is to keep them.

Remove the resonator and say bye bye to the caracteristic AMG growling
So it is really up to your taste.

i might need to disagree on this one. i had an xpipe to remove my 2nd cats a while back, and although it did sound smoother and was definitely louder than stock, it lost the gurgling and rumbling that i fell in love with.

i put my 2nd cats back on and went straight pipes at the resonator and i am happy with it. gurgles, pops and growls like nobody's business.

I have a second cat delete with straight pipe and just the stock resonator. Sounds great no drone in the car, just a louder meaner version of stock

IMO, removing the mufflers will remove the AMG growling

I have stock exhaust with just a resonator delete and it sounds great. Gurgles and pops and is louder and more aggressive than stock. Didn't lose any AMG sound, just intensified it a bit. I am quite happy with the res del.

Guys...Wow!!!!!! all i can say is holy **** do these roar with straight pipes...I decided to leave the res in...but i think ill leave it in because its atleast 1.5-2x louder then stock...i highly recommend...I'll try and take a HD video to get the sound but i dont think a video will compare to the real thing

I am about to get exhaust work done next week.

Was thinking of keeping stock headers and removing the primary, secondary cats and the res as well.

leave the 1st cat in..but get rid of the secondary...I wasn't sure on res delete...I kept mine..might get it deleted in the future...but just with the secondary delete I think you'll be more then pleased with the out come the video i posted doesn't even come close to how loud it actually is..it's pretty insane

Sounds good there

But hang onto your resonator. If you plan to do long tube headers the car sounds downright ugly with no resonator with long tube headers.

If you're going to mess with the exhaust, this is the way to go. The stock resonators are completely flow through and cause no back pressure. Deleting them makes no difference in HP/TQ. However the secondary cats do add back pressure and since they are behind the secondary O2 sensors, the ECU doesn't know they are missing. More HP/TQ and you retain the deep AMG sound.
