Only thing I can think of that may have righted itself with use is the spring settling itself properly on it's perch. Good to hear it is no longer an annoyance.

I own C240 (2002). When I drive in reverse with wheels turned right I hear a loud knocking/clicking sound, no knocking/clicking when wheels turned left. I've been to different service centers, they couldn't find the cause. they checked control arms, sway bar links and found no problem. any ideas? sorry if I'm posting a duplicate question, but couldn't find one on this forum.

Knocking noise from front suspension
I have a 2012 C63 Coupe and noticed a knocking suspension noise when I reversed from the driveway on a minimal lock. the driveway is almost flat but a slight angle. I let the service guys know and they could not replicate. Did you find out what it was?

I have the same issue on my 2010 C63 with stock suspension. I'm guessing it is the top side spring perches. I'm getting my tranny flushed on Friday, and will have the service dept check it out.

I have a 08 lowered on HR's, no issues at all. Then I fitted a new set of brake rotors and pads, lo and behold I have the knocking noise as well, usually only occurs when I have lock on turning left or right with suspension compressed during the turn. Annoying but not too noisy does not seem to have caused any issue. Need to jack it up and look around, sounds like something dislodged during the rotor install........

Wow so did anyone find a solution? Is it a faulty sway bar? i was told by my dealer the spring isnt sitting correctly. I think they were being lazy and blamed the H&R springs

OK, so the alignment guy found the source of the noise. When I replaced my upper control are bolt, I didn't torque it tight enough. The bolt comes in two options; Standard or Camber kit option. The camber kit option has a small groove down the center which allows you to move an extra 1mm or so to get your camber adjusted better/more. The problem is that if it slips out of the groove, it can move around and make that annoying noise). My car had a standard bolt on the right side and the camber bolt on the left. I guess when the previous owner had the wheel alignment done (before the accident) that shop swapped it out.
Anyways, the car drives a straight as an arrow and no more annoying clicking sounds. I may buy the $7 standard bolt as a back up since the alignment guy said it works much better.

Its usually due to faulty strut bearing where the the strut shaft goes through the bearing. after time the bearing hole can get bigger over a period of time and can knock around....just wear and tear. It's always good practice to change the bearing when changing the struts in the front. As well the sway bar bushings, they have the same type of effect when the bushing gets stretch. I believe this is what most of the guys are getting. When you take a car in for any suspension noise, a lot of the mechanics forget to check the sway bar because it's harder to diagnose. Ive done mine already, and i was getting the same knocking sound only in reverse. I'm in the business and it took me 2 days to find the problem because the sway bar bushing doesn't look bad at all when you are looking at it.

anyone still have this issue? I am experiencing something similar but based on my diagnosis, sounds more like traction control kicks in on the tire when it lifts of the ground for a brief second if the suspension is too stiff and it's too sensitive it is braking the slipping wheel.

Finally I have found the cause of knocking sound, too bad I met all the "experienced" technicians who "helped" me spend money on replacement parts I did not really need. So, I removed the lower control arms myself and found ball joints almost completely worn-out, causing the knocking sound. Turns out it is really hard to guess the ball joints are bad or not without removing them. I have ordered control arms and replaced them, the knocking sound is gone now.

lol, no balljoints are pretty easy to detech. that's really sad. ,macpherson car's also dont have upper control arm's but i knew what you were talking about. I doubt thats the issue on c63's as most arent 100k+ mile cars and typically those balljoint last about that long but it depends on age, and driving conditions.

Started hearing this after lowering the car. Not sure if it's related. Put it up on the lift and looked with the service guy for a while. Everything seems normal...no play or wear. Happens when turning the wheel slightly and moving slowly.
Not sure if we're all talking about the same noise here but I'm curious to hear how some of you resolved it. Wonder if it could be the brake pads shuffling around or anything else like that.

Mines at the shop right now with the exact same problem. He listened to it in the cabin and said the same exact thing. Replacing the top mount bearings tomorrow and see how that plays out. I did the kmac camber for the fronts as well last time it was in.

It's tough to diagnose a noise of the internet but if its an older c63- 08-10' they did have upper strut mount problems. There is a bearing in the mount that helps it twist that can go bad. Being that it is lowered on stock shock dampeners this does change a lot of geometry and as mentioned may need adjustable endlinks.

diagnosis: lower control arm bushing. no more sound now.
