Anyway back on topic...

Both CLA45 and C63 are appealing cars to different people. Yes the CLA45 is the entry level AMG, but that dosent mean it is bad or slow. You guys need to remember that is it the most powerful 2.0l 4cyl engine ever produced in a car with 177hp/L. This right here is enough to keep the AMG name in high regard for performance.

Another thing I wanted to say is that the 6.2L engine is fantastic for people that live at sea level, but once you hit some altitude, turbo is where its at.

i'm not familiar with car pricing in australia so cannot comment on whether those prices are fair or not, but assuming that they are, i'd say the c63 would take less of a hit in the coming years bc it's already a few years old and most of the depreciation happens within the first year or so. (how's that for a run-on sentence?)

I will gladly buy a RWD BMW with a quieter exhaust note than a new MB that looks like it belongs to Barbie and Ken. After all, you can easily replace an exhaust ;-)

Until recently, I had a CL63. It was the best car I have ever had. True it was big. Some people called it a boat, but for me it was just awesome. All the crazy things I did with it... It still handles better than 90% out of the cars out there and with ESP Off it was just a blast.

That's just me though... each is entitled to his own opinion. I don't think I will be owning a new MB anytime soon. Brand loyalty has its limits. Time to expand my options and look at what other brands have to offer

Oh, and Merry Christmas!
I kind of agree with what you're saying about MB styling. I love MB, but the softer edges don't appeal to me. I'm glad I bought my w204 with the M156... In the end I really don't care how quick the CLA45 is; dual clutch, big turbo etc, it's still a 4-cyl. I would buy a SLK55 instead of the CLA45. The rear seats on the CLA45 are nearly useless, and the SLK55 is a retractable hardtop and doesn't have the soft edges. IMO

Saw Fifth Gear review of A45 by Tiff.
He stated the AWD system is front wheel biased, which means it transmits more power to the front wheels.
Apparently this makes the car handle like a front wheel drive car...significant understeer.
Is the tranny in the CLA45 the same as the A45?

If the car is for your boyfriend then stop being a cheap a$$ flop and don't worry about resale.. Maybe make a thread on how much they'd give you on a trade to exchange your hyundai for a c63 lol.

The CLA45 has the same drivetrain as the A45. I've driven the CLA45 at the track, and while it's tough to get the back end to kick out (I had to use curbing to upset the car enough to swing the tail out), the car doesn't understeer much. The curve assist functionality pretty much dials all of the understeer out of the car in every situation, particularly power exiting a corner.
