A car with a build date of 12/10 won't be affected as it was built 5+ months after the switchover.

Again, the issue relates to the engine, not car model. So yes, an E63 can be affected as well.

If under warranty, it's covered. If not, good will is sporadic at best.

Ugh, hopefully the previous owner replaced it, I guess I'll call the dealer tomorrow to see if they have any records of the car's service. If not I'll try to flip the coin on goodwill
