Hi, I joined this forum because I'm in the market for a 2009 SL63. I called an MB dealer and gave them the VIN's and they told me that there are no open or previous recalls on these two cars I'm looking at. I was under the impression that all 2009 SL63's had the M156 engine and is in range of the problem. The two VIN's I'm looking at are:
WDBSK70FX9F154708
WDBSK70F49F146992

There are no recalls Mercedes never accepted responsibility to fix them all and chose to fix only the ones that had failures under warranty and or at their discretion. Both of those cars will have the old failure or own head bolts unless they have already been switched out

Is it possible they may have used re-designed head bolts from the future in an engine 30955 engines before the switchover?

What’s with the picture. I asked somebody at Mercedes Benz and they told me my engine head bolts were not affected. After reading through this thread I am not sure if I should believe MB.

No offence but if you read this thread you’ll know the answer... don’t even need to look the vin up it’s an 09, all 09s have the crap headbolts

adding to my previous comment: my contact at Mercedes Benz in Germany said that all vehicles up to 068xxx are affected and since my vin is 236xxx I should not worry- well until I came across this thread tonight!

Don't know who came up with that number. According to LastVIN,com your engine # is 156985 60 037523. Over 30K units before the change over.
