Interesting car...its supposed to be when it arrives in showrooms this coming fall, lighter than this year's standard stock stingray coupe, but they are saying it will have at least 625 or more horsepower (not finalized yet), and at least 635 lb/ft of torque from only a small 1.7 liter supercharger on it's VVT 6.2 liter V-8 with forged pistons. Also will offer an all new 8-Speed auto transmission that is supposed to shift gears even faster than Porsche's 7 speed PDK dual clutch transmission! the performance package, which is optional, will come with carbon ceramic brakes and other goodies....so basically the stock 460 HP stingray can hit 60 in 3.8 seconds...so this thing, what with its superior weight, handling, suspension, much faster shifting transmission, and much more powerful engine should be 3.0 flat easily if not the high 2's on a nice cool day with a properly broken in engine. Price should be around $100,000....interesting question for you guys/girls would be this: would any of you ever even consider getting one of these? If so or if not, why? The weight should be around what? 3,300 lbs? At the very least it will be absolutely devastating performance per dollar value, and thats before some of you guys would probably immediately go put a larger 3.0 liter supercharger on it and then do even meaner headers, cams, exhaust, etc...with some bolt on's and an ECU tune God knows how high this engine could go....scary thing is that the upcoming ZR-1 which should be out in 2016, is supposed to make even this new Z06 look slow and tame in comparison! Rumors are it will be a good bit lighter even than last year's ZR-1 with the old body, but have a 750+ HP version of the Z06's supercharged engine, or some say it might even go twin turbo 6.2 liter......crazy golden days for people who love really fast cars.....indeed.

They could put 1000 hp in it and I still wouldn't consider it. First of all this new design is a hideous eyesore. Second, you can put a big engine in a piece of junk and it's still a piece of junk. The Lego quality plastic parts, which is most of the car, will be rattling and falling apart within a few months.

SL65amg 01-13-2014 11:32 AM

Yup

Great point you make JumpinJim, I'm wondering how they will hold up over the long run also....

anthonymckay 01-13-2014 12:45 PM

Personally I'm a fan! And at the end of the day, that's a LOT of stock power and probably a blast to drive :) Would love to take one of these for a spin around the track

Autosport7 01-13-2014 12:57 PM

Tail lights tend to bother me a bit, but overall, I can dig it!
To those dogging... You can also spend a **** ton of money on MB and end up with an overheating, bad lifters, headbolt nightmare of a disaster on your hands as well.
Not saying I don't love my car, and I haven't come across any of these issues yet, but there are those out there who have.
What's worse, a little rattle here and there, or your engine coming apart because the engineers who designed it overlooked an issue like headbolts not holding up...?

dremorg 01-13-2014 12:58 PM

I like it also. I'm really considering it over the new c63. I'm wondering about price.

alexmtl 01-13-2014 01:06 PM

I like it a LOT. Will definitely consider it when my new C63's lease is up.

Those who say it's a cheap quality car that will break down did not read the reviews on the new Corvette.

I read the reviews. It's an improvement over the old model, which was made of recycled trash bins, so that's not saying much. It's still a GM product and they're synonymous with cheaply built junk. It may be "good" for a GM product, but that's still quite poor by european standards. It's only been out for what, 2 months?

I think its amazing actually.. love the look and the power is #1 for the money.. I just wouldn't buy automatic z06 , six speed for under 100k maybe 85k to 90k is a great buy and alotta car imho.

mdgrwl 01-13-2014 01:40 PM

The regular C7 is no joke... this is going to be a killer machine. Looks evil.

I am Jeff 01-13-2014 01:45 PM

It's interesting how everyone who are complaining about the perceived quality of the new C7 hasn't self reflected on the quality of their own C63. Don't get me wrong, I love my C63, but I wouldn't go around screaming about the excellent materials and fit & finishes of the car. The new CLA is a joke in terms of quality and amenities. Personally, I would give the new C7 a strong consideration.

Haha, so true! The interior of the C63 has always been one of my biggest gripes. It's not ****, but it's not THAT great, especially considering the price tag and the fact that it's an AMG. I still love mine though, and given how much bang you get for your buck with the z06, I can look past a less that top notch materials. I suppose it all just depends on your priorities.

callmiro 01-13-2014 02:53 PM

I think we're gonna see alot of those on the hoists for tranny service in the first year

It took me 3 tries to fully comprehend what you wrote, because my attention was constantly diverted to your gif. :y

OC6.3AMG 01-13-2014 03:47 PM

Get me a Black on Red with a true DCT and I'm game.

Get used to the auto tranny becoming more & more prevalent on the highest performing models. Even the new 991 GT3 is PDK-based only. Shifting has a "fun" aspect to it, but no one is faster down a dragstrip or around a track with a manual stick compared to the newer tuned boxes.

The Z06 will be an absolute beast.

BK63amg 01-13-2014 04:41 PM

I think this car is stunning. Can't wait to read up more on it when the reviews start rolling in. Corvettes are a blast to drive. I'm keen on seeing more of the interior as I've heard it's vastly superior to the C6 gen.

TTA850 01-13-2014 05:49 PM

I like it, interested in seeing what interior/exterior color options are but otherwise it's on my list of C63 replacements when my lease is up - never thought I'd say that about a Corvette, I've always liked them but never to own (or lease).

emericr 01-13-2014 06:00 PM

X63. I am willing to bet those people have not stepped into a C7 or even spent some time in it or driving it. The C7 interior has nothing to be ashamed off compared to the C class .
I like the new look and it will be on my list for the next car with the new F type coupe.
As a side note, If Toyota makes that FT-1 new Supra, it will be on my list as well :D

Ingenieur 01-13-2014 06:06 PM

this car will be Ferrari fast for 1/2 to 1/3 the money
the QC/QA and materials have drastically improved as have the fabrication techniques
for a nice weather sports car it's hard to beat

the old ZR1 did a 7:19 at the 'Ring
the Z06 7:22
driven by the same driver a few years ago the Gtr and ZR1 both did 7:38, both on runflats!

this car should do better than 7:10

when you are talking this kind of performnce for that price, something must give, can't have it all

this is not my kind of car, I don't care about absolute speed and like a less ostentatious appearence and a 4 door, but if I were looking for a brutal seasonal sports car this is one I would consider

this thing will suck the windows out of an equally priced Porsche, and the difference in quality is shrinking, GM getting better, the others getting worse due to cost control measures...

mr747 01-13-2014 06:10 PM

that looks great
id take one

Karl901 01-13-2014 08:30 PM

I will say one thing"finally time to buy an AmericanCar"
There popping up at road courses, and they run fabulously.

Guilty 01-13-2014 08:40 PM

What happens when you crash in a corvette? I think you just die

Fastnine 01-13-2014 08:44 PM

At the end of the day its still a corvette, problem is everyone has one.I go on my local cars and coffee meets and you see 100 cars show up and 30 of them are corvettes and they come in revving there motors 10 at a time. Theres one SL65 me and one SLS.
I love the fit and finish of Benz thats why i own one.The corvette looks cool but i guess I'm getting old now at 40 it looks like a kids car to me i just can't wrap myself around it and see myself driving it.It looks like a car i would have loved when i was 28.

Jons95c36amg 01-13-2014 08:51 PM

It looks like a Viper almost. So its a ZR1 with more boost and different interior and exterior. For me if I would spend over $100k I want luxury and performance.
