2015 Corvette Z06 Article/Pics, 625+HP/635+TQ-8SpeedAuto

Interesting car...its supposed to be when it arrives in showrooms this coming fall, lighter than this year's standard stock stingray coupe, but they are saying it will have at least 625 or more horsepower (not finalized yet), and at least 635 lb/ft of torque from only a small 1.7 liter supercharger on it's VVT 6.2 liter V-8 with forged pistons. Also will offer an all new 8-Speed auto transmission that is supposed to shift gears even faster than Porsche's 7 speed PDK dual clutch transmission! the performance package, which is optional, will come with carbon ceramic brakes and other goodies....so basically the stock 460 HP stingray can hit 60 in 3.8 seconds...so this thing, what with its superior weight, handling, suspension, much faster shifting transmission, and much more powerful engine should be 3.0 flat easily if not the high 2's on a nice cool day with a properly broken in engine. Price should be around $100,000....interesting question for you guys/girls would be this: would any of you ever even consider getting one of these? If so or if not, why? The weight should be around what? 3,300 lbs? At the very least it will be absolutely devastating performance per dollar value, and thats before some of you guys would probably immediately go put a larger 3.0 liter supercharger on it and then do even meaner headers, cams, exhaust, etc...with some bolt on's and an ECU tune God knows how high this engine could go....scary thing is that the upcoming ZR-1 which should be out in 2016, is supposed to make even this new Z06 look slow and tame in comparison! Rumors are it will be a good bit lighter even than last year's ZR-1 with the old body, but have a 750+ HP version of the Z06's supercharged engine, or some say it might even go twin turbo 6.2 liter......crazy golden days for people who love really fast cars.....indeed.

To those *******... You can also spend a **** ton of money on MB and end up with an overheating, bad lifters, headbolt nightmare of a disaster on your hands as well.
Not saying I don't love my car, and I haven't come across any of these issues yet, but there are those out there who have.
What's worse, a little rattle here and there, or your engine coming apart because the engineers who designed it overlooked an issue like headbolts not holding up...?
Those who say it's a cheap quality car that will break down did not read the reviews on the new Corvette.

The Z06 will be an absolute beast.
.I like the new look and it will be on my list for the next car with the new F type coupe.
As a side note, If Toyota makes that FT-1 new Supra, it will be on my list as well

the QC/QA and materials have drastically improved as have the fabrication techniques
for a nice weather sports car it's hard to beat
the old ZR1 did a 7:19 at the 'Ring
the Z06 7:22
driven by the same driver a few years ago the Gtr and ZR1 both did 7:38, both on runflats!
this car should do better than 7:10
when you are talking this kind of performnce for that price, something must give, can't have it all
this is not my kind of car, I don't care about absolute speed and like a less ostentatious appearence and a 4 door, but if I were looking for a brutal seasonal sports car this is one I would consider
this thing will suck the windows out of an equally priced Porsche, and the difference in quality is shrinking, GM getting better, the others getting worse due to cost control measures...
There popping up at road courses, and they run fabulously.
I love the fit and finish of Benz thats why i own one.The corvette looks cool but i guess I'm getting old now at 40 it looks like a kids car to me i just can't wrap myself around it and see myself driving it.It looks like a car i would have loved when i was 28.
