Would you wait for the newer C63 replacement

Folks,

I need your open minded opinions. I used to have a modded C63 with MHP stage II and I traded in two years ago. Part of the reason why I traded in is because I use to complain about the gas consumption but I am over with.

I recently did a trade (I actually did a pre-trade) and I have a credit plus trade in on tax savings that I can use towards the purchased off a new car. I have to use this credit before the end off the year otherwise my tax savings goes away ($2500)

Obviously I am aware that the next C63 replacement will have a 4.0l V8 bi-turbo but would it be crazy to jump into another M157 powered C63? I am assuming that the last C63 will have a big price drop.

I test drove the only CLA 45 AMG on the lot and I am not impressed(I made a lot of people angry on the CLA 45 amg sub-forum). I was set also on the E550 bi-turbo but I started reading that the trasnfer cases are ailing in some of the 4 matics and that it requires the entire transmission to be swapped. Also, the C63 has a faster shifting transmission and is RWD so no problem with transfer cases.

Should I wait and hope for a huge discount? or should I wait for the new C63 replacement.

The question you have to answer is why do you want another c63?
If it's for the performance/engine side i would say stick with the N/A for now until we hear a little bit more about this new 4.0 biturbo. You could then trade in for the W205 later. If you are in the pursue of a fresh design/interior then wait and pull the trigger on the new C63.
On a side note trading your first c63 because of mpg wasn't a smart move IMO. Who buys AMG for fuel economy? lol! What did you end up with after this trade (out of curiosity)?

First off, the C63 has the M156. The M157 is a 5.5L twin turbo V8. Secondly, if you want a current C63 and the numbers work the way you want, I say get one. Then when the new C63 comes out, drive it and see if you like it better. Plenty of people seem to have gotten discounts recently. But if you're asking if waiting for the new C63 will reduce the price of the w204 significantly, I don't think you should hold your breath too much. Prices are not bad now. And with regards to the E550 and CLA45 compared to the C63...never leave a good time in search of a better time.

I was in the same boat as you, right now im just waiting to see. I dont really know if I will love the new one but I know I love my current one. I was going to get a brand new 507 which I was going to spend 90k. Then I decided to wait, because if I dont like the new C63s I could always pick up a BS for 70-80k after the new gen comes. My advice would be to wait and see if you like the new one or not.
Good luck with deciding

Mistakenly I traded my C63 for a 12 STI back in April 12. At the time I recall the C63 being "bad on gas" and also very loud with the MHP long tube headers, so loud that it was annoying to drive hard at ful throtle and I thought it wasn't my stye(driving a loud car). Fast forward a few months after the trade and I found out the hard way that the STI even with mods was a little POS next to the C63. The C63 bone stock was almost as quick as the STI. irther more, the STI was only reasonably quick on E-85 fuel which brought me the fuel economy down to 12mpg.

After meticulous calculations and logs on fuel consumptions I realized that the C63 wasn't that bad on gas considering so much power on tap. My 15ish MPH in city now sounded very reasonable compared to the STI 12's mpg on E85.

You are correct, who in the *** would buy a AMG if they are concerned on gas prices. I overcame that although I must admit that a fast car with good fuel mileage is appealing to anyone.

The E550 seems like a good compromise of speed, comfort, price and decent as mileage.

No offense but in my budget I would skip the 507 for the simple fact that you can get a simple basic tune and you can get more than 507hp. I admit that the wheels on the 507 are bad a$$(I driven one in person). I am just waiting for a good deal(any good deal). I they discount the C63 by the end of the year then that might be the right move but right now the dealer is only willing to discount $2000 off which is *****y cpmpared to the $12000 that I got back in 09

Or an E63 with the M157? That would be fun.

I came from an Sti as well. If you had e85 I assume you replaced the turbo in the gt30/35 range? For me, I had a 3582xtr and when the boost hit it was a ton of fun. The not so fun part was replacing the motor... twice.

If I were you I'd wait and see what the w205 c63 REALLY is all about. Granted I love the how much more sharp the w204 is rather than this flowing CLS style mercedes has seemingly gone to. That $2,500 wont seem like much when you look at the MSRP of a w205. If you were set on the $2,500 I'd look into the E63 rather than the E550.

On the other hand, I hear a ton of people say they like how much more nimble the C feels so if you can't find an E at the price you'd like there will always be w204's to pick up.

Good advise. I backed o my STI built(I had on hand a Dom 1.5 XTR) but I decided not to put it because of fear of blowing up the engine. Long history short, I put the STI back to stock and pre-traded in so now is the matter of choosing the correct car.

I thought about even getting the non AWD E63 AMG but I only seen a 2011 model (6.2 liters N.A). The only catch about my next car is that the agreement is having to buy a car from the dealer in which I trade the car. I have a credit but I never received the money of the trade.

2012 C63 AMG, 1991 325iS. Ex: 2011 C63 P31
Remember also that every completely new car generally comes with teething problems which they usually iron out with the facelift models. So be prepared to suffer some of those teething problems if you decide on getting the new C63
