Weistec oil/air separator works great.

Waking up an old thread here, but I searched and didn't find an answer to my question - apologize if I missed it.
Has anyone tried other oil catch cans/separators on our cars? The Weistec separator seems like the only one people have installed or considered for the C63. It looks great and looks like it works great - but it also has a high price tag. A quick Google search pointed me to a Mishimoto generic catch can with high reviews for under $100. Does anyone know if the significant differences between the Weistec can and a generic catch can, if any, are really worth the extra dough?

@Hyunman, honestly along with the high quality piece from Weistec and the complete kit so to speak the main problem of using any other catch can is that the fittings, one for the engine and the other for the pcv valve itself to plumb into the PCV are hard to duplicate. Yes you could possibly dissect and old PCV or two for the proper attachment points but then again you are messing with the intake side of your engine and any leakages or positioning issues will cause nothing but grief. As is stated any can will suffice but I believe the CNC machined components raise the cost considerable, hence the price. Just sayin!

Awesome - thanks for your input guys. I was sure someone somewhere had discussed alternatives on these forums, just couldn't find it. Anyway, this definitely helps convince my wallet to go with Weistec. Normally, a $600 price tag wouldn't seem like a lot for this car but it just didn't feel right knowing there could be a plausible $100 alternative. But the above helped seal the the deal for me. Truly looks like well-machined parts and I don't doubt Weistec's quality. Thanks again guys!
