2014 AMG Calendar
Was pleasantly surprised today when UPS dropped off a package from Affalterbach! Turned out to be a giant AMG calendar. I think I might have signed up for this on the Private Lounge a while back and then forgot about it. Anyway, thought you all might be interested in seeing the photos of each month

I went thru the process and signed up the day it opened in Dec. I thought it went thru, but I'm not on posted list. That Stinks. Amazing cars. Think I'd trade mine for any of those pictured except the CLA and A (I'd only trade my W211 for those).

that....got turned in to a bloody raffle with something like 1500 entries. So much for first come first serve. It would have been hella lot classier to just send them out at random, and then people would have popped up here and there squealing with delight. But no. If they wanted to change how they give them out they should have done what they said they were going to do and then lotto'd out a couple hundred more. How freaking cheap do they have to be that they make 140 calendars FOR THE WHOLE PLANET? And not only that, they are sending them out to people in the middle of February. Why even put a January in the damn thing? Nobody will ever use it.
Thats why you won't ever see me hanging out there. This isn't the first thing thats been run like this. Its an organizational circle jerk where they hand out crumbs and act like they are loaves. Well, in the 12 slice loaf they just threw away the first slice and a half by waiting til now to send them out. Nothing makes me feel less valued as a customer than hanging out in their lounge. Im not choked because I feel like I am out whatever that calendar is worth. Im choked because they wasted my time.
Talk about throwing pennies around like manhole covers. If we were all as stingy as they are, they'd be broke.
When I calm down I'll tell you how I really feel. Maybe I just need a vacation in a warm and sunny place. Like Sochi.

You just sound salty man.
They don't have to give anything away. The idea is to drive people to check the site more often. There is a motive behind everything. If you're not willing to check the site, then you can expect to not get the giveaway.
I love that AMG does this frequently, whether it's 140 or 1400 people. Sorry they aren't personally notifying you when they are giving something away to ensure you get in on it. Geez.

The email only confirmed that your entry was received
Not that you were one the the first 140
Such a sense of entitlement and unfounded indignation
You chose to participate
It took 10 seconds to enter, so much for 'wasted time'
They stated up front first come first served

That website is an tool designed to give them access to their most enthusiastic owners for the purposes of advertising, market research and generating lifetime type customers. Repeat customers. The whole thing is a giant advertisement. If I ran it I would give away 10 507 shifters or something that the enthusiast community covets. Word would spread like wildfire amongst and we would all visit regularly. They would have access to an extremely valuable part of their client base for pennies a head.
140 calendars is a joke and is not the lure to me personally that they seem to think it is. It is the equivalent of saying one in a thousand McHappy meals gets a toy. If that's what they are going to do, at least run it smoothly. Give it away cleanly and get it to people's door by January 1st. Anything else looks bush. And my opinion matters. I know that cos that's what they tell me in every marketing survey they send me and ask me to fill out.

What does this site give away?
It was gesture
Nothing more or less
Yes the site is a marketing tool
And this one is a revenue generator
It is a dot org (does that mean non-profit?)
But with both we CHOOSE to participate and realistically should have no expectations of return or performance
Since both are FREE

You can see the difference between the two sites and what their purposes are, right? They aren't selling advertising, they ARE the advertising.
I would prefer to spend my valuable free time here, where I get nothing but access to free information and other owners. I don't feel entitled, I just feel like if you have less practical info than here, it will take more than a chance at a calendar to get me to go there. I think others agree or they would have higher activity levels and more chance to advertise and get marketing info. Exclusive content and giveaways = customer access. Not a new recipe.
Hey, if you're happy with a chance at a calendar once a year and a couple of vids then good on ya. But you really mean to tell me you wouldn't go there MORE if they gave out a 507 shifter once in awhile? How many surveys would you take for the chance? Would more of us be there, more often, and thus better fulfilling the whole purpose of that site? Pretty sure I know the answer.
But to the OP.....congrats and thanks for posting the pics. It IS a very nice calendar, after all.

And just as a small aside, .org no longer means non-profit. I mention this not as a comment with regards to this topic, but just for future purposes. That was the origin of it, and is still a commonly held belief. Its just a regular domain now, so don't let it's use by different outfits lead you to believe they are a charity or aid organization. There was a time when you could infer the good intentions of a .org user, but that time is gone unfortunately. Sold to the highest bidder.
We can save the whole "who profits at non-profits" and "employees vs. volunteers" discussion for another day.

Sorry man, you opened it up, it's ridiculous to complain about this. Kudos to AMG for the giveaways, congrats to those who got them.

Sorry your thread took a curve there. If I wanted to vent I should have done it in my own thread and I apologize for the hijack. Thought it was gonna be a one and done kinda thing. I had an opinion and I expressed it. I am allowed to do so and I will continue to do so. Sorry I did it here though. I have no idea why someone else "has a dog in this fight".

I have no dog in this fight
I just call BS when I see it
Opinions are like @$$holes
Everyone has one and they all stink
Some opinions, especially those not thought out, are better kept to ones self...because no one gives a $h!t what you think except for yourself...and one would hope you 've already shared your thoughts with yourself...then again....

You posted something dumb. You got called out. There's no right or wrong in posting, just like you can post your thoughts someone else can disagree. The foundation of messageboards.
For the record I got the calendar, it's pretty cool, more art than functional. Again, kudos to AMG for their great giveaways.
