C63 507 wheels questions
Hi guys.
Im putting ADV1 wheels on my 507 in 20 inches. Im not planning of lowering the car.
Since that, they are recommending me to put 275/25/20 in the back. The only tire that comes in that size are the nittos....
If I would have put a drop, I could have fitted some 285.
Whats the downside of putting 285 in the back? rubbing, camber problems?
thanxs
Also, any comments on nitto Invo??

Lowering your car results in you having less clearance, not more. All other things being equal, if you can fit 285s on a lowered car, you can certainly use them with stock ride height. Yes, the issue would be rubbing, and lowering the car will affect the camber. Personally I wouldn't touch Nittos but that's just me (I also wouldn't run 20s or ADV.1s). There are LOTS of wheel and tire fitment threads on here that could help.

I am assuming you meant why I would NOT run 20s OR ADV1 wheels, which is what I wrote.
Because with 20" wheels you have virtually no rubber between the rim and the road, and unless you live in Switzerland you'll bend a rim in no time. As for ADV1 - well, there is plenty of information on the 'net about their business practices (Google is your friend - or just do a search on this forum and you can find some posts that I made earlier with links to some horror stores). It is Jordan Swerdloff's latest company, the same guy from 360Forged fame. I certainly would not take a chance with my $$$.
P.S. You might want to look into Vredestein tires if you are going to run 20s. Way better than Nittos.

Is 22-25 pounds that much heavy compared to the oem 19 inches on the 507 wheels??
I have choosen the super light series ( SL)
Im looking for style more than performance. I found my car fast enough like this.
Im from canada so I don't know the story of 360 FF before but the reviews seems nice and quality product good

Quoted for the truth.
I love the Michelin Pilot Super Sport combined with a lightweight forged rim.

If you sell your 507 wheels, let me know.
I'll gladly take them off your hands.

I'm pretty sure you can get the PSS in 275. I think even Tire Rack has them. Actually, I'm positive: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ot+Super+Sport

20 looks too big on a c63 anyway.. your stock wheels are way nicer in every way. sometimes less is more. lower it on 507 wheels + spacers that's whats up.
just saying

^^ totally agree! 507 + spacers + drop > ADV 20" at stock height anyday lol
20" is all show no go, my friend cracked 2 of his HRE P40 20" on Montreal roads, that's why he recommended me to go 19's on my HRE. He said too much headache associated with 20", plus tires selection is very limited.
If ur car is a car show or queen garage, then go 20".. If it's ur daily driver , go 19".

No its not my dd.
The thing is that im not a big fan of my oem wheelss. I know they are popular here but their not my cup of tea. . I find them rather small and I want to change the look of the car. Thas why i was looking for a 5 spokes in 20 inches
So you would suggest 19 instead of 20??? Especially if the 5 spokes makes the wheel bigger that they already are

Definitely, 19's with a little drop = game over.
The problem with 20's for our cars, it's the tiny tire sidewalls (25 series) which offers no protection to the rims. And again, tires selection is limited in 20's.

Check out my pic on my profile or my Instagram @zc63amg my car is sitting on staggered 19", 3 PC sv1 wheels (265/30r19 yoko's)and lowered it's gives a slick look. Just ordered JL front lip and rear roof lip and the exterior is done. I would never go lower, it rides a little rough and roads around here are bad. 20's would be too big

As for the slow leaks, I had that problem too once in a while, I had to let my tire shop cleaned & re sealed the tires. 3pcs wheels with chrome lips are prone to leakage. I would suggest u to buy polished outer lips & swap all four.

That's an interesting observation and one that I would tend to agree with. Having owned over a dozen sets of three-piece wheels for my various cars over the years, the only ones that ever developed a slow air leak were the DPEs for my C63 that have a chromed outer barrel. However, it was not anywhere near the tire beads, it was the seal between the rim halves. I chalked it off as DPE using caulking instead of a proper RTV sealant, but it is certainly true that the sealant didn't adhere to the chromed barrel and it was visibly separating from it in many places. The fix was relatively easy though - remove all the old sealant, slightly rough up the chrome surface with some 200-grit sandpaper and use a proper non-acid-cure RTV sealant. No more issues and no need to get new outer halves.

See my last post - it's a rather common issue with 3-piece wheels if the manufacturer used a crappy sealant or didn't clean them properly and is further exacerbated if one of the halves is chromed. Easy to fix although somewhat time consuming. You don't even need to disassemble the rim.
