Possible purchase; input please
I have been shopping around for a C63 for the last few months and have found one pretty close to my house that seems to be a good deal. I have test driven it and it felt tight, new and was really clean. I previously walked out on the dealer when they wouldn't drop their price on the car. That was two weeks ago (vehicle has been on the dealer's lot for over a month) and they have now reduced the price to under 50k. The issue, as you will see is the mileage. It's high. To calm my nerves, the car is certified, with a warranty running until late 2016 with unlimited mileage under the February CPO sales event. Two maintenance services are also included in the deal. With all of that info, do you think this is a good deal? I appreciate everyone's input. I have certainly learned a ton reading this forum so thanks for that!
Edit: I think I can get them down another $1000.

That seems like a good deal to me. As long as the service history is up to date, which it should be since it's a CPO, then I wouldn't worry. For reference, my 2 year old CPO C63 with 6k miles was $56,455 and didn't come with service but they did make the first car payment. I say go for it!

This is a tough one due to miles. I get the CPO, and yes it is worth its weight in gold, but 49k on the ticker for a 12...
I have an 09 and bought it with 42k and felt as thought I had given into a higher mileage car.
I guess what I am trying to say is, I think you can find a 10 or 11 with less miles, still CPO'd, for quite a bit less money. Having said that you may have to travel like I did to find the right car.
Beautiful car, and GL with whatever you decide!

I think you could get them down closer to $46k. Ask them what they would knock the price down to without the CPO warranty to see what the dealer values that at. For reference, I had negotiated a local dealer down to $53k (not including tax, tag, or doc fees) for a similar '12 car with MB Tex/Dinamica, Multimedia, Lighting, and Lane Tracking packages plus Keyless-Go and Wood Trim but only 15k miles. Make them an offer based on KKB and NADA values, plus what similar cars are going for. Try to negotiate the dealer doc fees as well, had my dealer agree to split them 50/50 with me, some people have even negotiated them down to $0. It's nice that it's a 1-owner car, but I think you could do better than $1k off the asking price.
Also, be careful with the February CPO sales event. While the 1.99% financing and 2-month payment credit up to $900 are applicable to AMG vehicles, the two years prepaid maintenance and unlimited mileage CPO warranty are not. So make sure you have that in writing from your dealer before finalizing the deal.
Best of luck with whatever you decide though! I know first hand how frustrating the search can be.

For comparison, I just purchased a CPO Magnetite Black 2012 sedan right around Christmas with the exact same options for $50,900 - but with only 19k miles. I would think there is still room to negotiate on price because of the miles. Good luck!

My car also came with a set of winter wheels, so that would be worth maybe another $1k (cheap aftermarket rims, but a nice set of Pirelli Sottozeros).

FWIW, I have always felt like high miles on a very new car is usually a sign that they are highway miles...just not possible to rack up so many miles so fast driving around town.

I drove a 2011 with 45K miles (it was a 10/10 production date) and it had a ton of rattles as well as felt much looser. I walked away from this one as a result.

Thank you. I will specifically ask the dealer about the two free services that they told me were included. They specifically told me that I would essentially be saving around $700 because it would include service at 60k miles and 70k miles.

Lets take a peak on Manheim and see of we can locate the transaction for this vehicle.... See what I can find.

I would think that car was a trade in vs an auction purchase. I can't see why an MB dealer would go looking for a high mileage C63.
Of course you might find a no sale report on it.

I think unless they really stepped up to make a deal, they should have a few thousand to move, but then again Spring is around the corner and they may not mind sitting on it for a bit...

I personally feel like the price is still way to high for a car with that many miles. Another consideration is the additional depreciation that will kick in once the W205 drops.
FWIW I bought my 2012 C63 coupe (P31 plus some other goodies) for $56K with >5k miles on the odometer. There are deals to be had and I think you'd be better served finding a lower mileage 12 or 13 - it will be worth the extra 2K-3K you might end up paying.

Unless they stole it at the auction.... But your probably right, either way, their trade numbers are based on auction pricing these days. Regardless of how it was obtained, odds are they got the car at auction pricing, having said that, it is pure speculation.

Well yes, you always (or at least should) look at current values when appraising a trade. I don't know how long that car has been there, but my guess is they put mid '40's in the car, and then add CPO...
Personally I would hold out for a lower mileage car, unless he can get that one in the lower $'40's. Plenty of nicer cars in the $50 range.

i don't get it, if parts costs worry you that much don't buy the car, these car's don't just fall apart..I've beaten the living crap out of mine and it holds perfect, i think warrantys are a joke unless it's from the dealer it self, when i bought my car, they wanted 60grand, .yeah it had super low miles, I paid under 40 ..i just walked in and told them take it or leave it. Although if you're leasing/financing I highly doubt they'll budge on the numbers very much

What this tells me is, they were so overpriced on the car it was a joke, or... you have a typo in your post.
I may be mistaken on both counts, but I doubt it.

Sooo your saying because you paid cash for a car the dealer left over $20k on the table because you said "take it or leave it"?
