DIY transmission service?
I have about 36K miles on my 2009 SL63 and would like to change the transmission fluid.
Is it a pretty straight forward procedure on the SL63/C63? Does the pan need to be dropped or is it just a quick drain/fill? What kind of fluid does the car require and how much does it take?
Also, would it be worthwhile to change out the transmission mount while I'm in there as well? I think it's only about $50.
If anyone has access to a service manual, I'd greatly appreciate some instructions

I believe there's a youtube video on changing the MB transmission oil (for the S-class W220?)..not sure if it's specific for the SL63 though.
I'm sure you need to remove the pan to remove and exchange the filter inside. It's never a good idea to be reusing parts for maintenance (except the pan in this case). The fluid you can definitely search for on google.
As for a step-by-step manual, I believe you have to pay for a subscription service to access that.
Also, wrong forum. SL63 and C63 motors aren't the same. Good luck with your transmission oil service!

You do have to drop the pan.
It is not hard, but it is not straight forward.
Everything you need to know is here.

Not sure why the wiki isn't working, but if you go the source you can see the text.
check out: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ce-thread.html
Although it is for the older transmission and not the MCT.

Here's the thread I started when I did my Daughter's C300. It's exactly the same vintage of tranny except the C63 has an fluid cooler. I'm doing my C63 in the next few weeks. If you review and either make your own tools like in the photos, or purchase official tools, I will help you with service manual stuff.
Regards,
Joe
