C63 Cracked Bumper

I'm looking for input from anyone who has had a crack similar to the one in the pictures attached. I have called a shop in the Toronto / GTA area and the quote to fix was $1,100. I was told that the entire bumper needs to be re-painted. I think this is excessive, and I don't like the idea of painting the entire bumper. I'm worried that the paint won't match.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Is is possible to paint a portion of the bumper only?

Can any body recommend a good shop in the GTA?

Plastic weld that and paint it.

The patch won't match or the bumper won't, pick your poison.

Tape it up and get a CF front lip to cover it.

Cheaper + you get some CF on the car. Win win situation.

good idea, but I still want it fixed. I have bought the godhand style lip that goes under the bumper not over it

Help me understand your mentality....

You buy a C63 "in that condition". The bumper has a nice crack in it. Not to mention if you look closely at your picture, one can see a ton of rock chips, gouges and scratches in it.

You come here asking what you should do and from your internet tone, it appears that you are worried about the cost???!!!!!?

I mean seriously? Are you for real? GET THE BUMPER FIXED. YOU GOTTA PAY TO GET IT FIXED.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT HOW THE CAR LOOKS, GET IT FIXED.

This involves getting a new bumper, or repairing that fugly one. Are you trying to own a C63 AMG on less than a dollar???!?!!!!???!!!!!

I see. well, a new one will cost around 1500 installed. or you can buy a used one for like 500-700 and have it repainted and installed. someone on here is actually selling his used one, and it looks like it's in good condition. I'd say just bite the bullet and replace it instead of patching it, but that's just my opinion. but I'd do it now since you just got the car and as time goes on, it'll become less and less worth it to you to shell out the money.

I mean, it's not that difficult of a decision. People kill me when they buy this car and then worry about excess gas usage, need for tires, "expensive" oil changes and service, and what to do with a huge tear out of the front of your bumper....

I'd like to know who had the nerve to actually sell a C63 in that condition. Hope the previous owner took care of the rest of the car and you got a good deal which took into account the damage.

I don't think the cost estimate given to you is out of line. Any pro shop would take the bumper off repair and repaint the whole thing-- first option, best for you and them $. There are cheaper fixes and you and others will see it .....

$550+shipping. he'll probably hate me for saying this, but you can probably even negotiate it lower than that. it's not very often that someone is going to need a new bumper. it also has some scratches on it as well (albeit on the bottom of the bumper where you can't even see them when it's on the car). it's honestly your best bet on a budget.

well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I am of the same mind as you. I don't "save" my car. mind you, I don't abuse it, and I maintain it, but I drive it. I burn gas, oil, tires. I figured that I paid for the damn thing, so I'm gonna use it. I'm not gonna save it for the next guy. I also damaged my front bumper on a gdamn parking block, and I paid for a new bumper. I also paid to have a solitary ding repaired. my gf thinks I'm nuts, but that's just me.

I agree with zephyr, don't expect to have a c63amg and not spend money. If you're worried about 1500 bucks, sell the car and buy a civic. I probably spend half of that in gas each month.

The bumper could be repaired and painted. If you do patch work, I doubt you will notice discoloration since its near the bottom, just dont skimp on the work or you will get crappy work done and adding a lip might help hide it.

Personally if that was my car, I'd replace the whole bumper and repaint it. Good luck with your problem.

Check your tire pressure, that tire looks low.

I worry all the time about my gas usage. I'm kept awake late at night worrying if I'm using enough gas to support the lifestyle of the saudi princess.

Repaint front bumper on the high end is 500/600.. lower end 350. So to repair/patch worth 500/700? Prob not. Either get a new quote to get it fixed, or buy a new 1 and get it painted. Or buy a used one that's already painted and in good shape.
