oil temp at idle and weird thud at idle
Just picked up an 08 c63 with 65,000 kms on it. Before I picked it up i had Mercedes change out the valve lifters, headbolts, headgasket and had them change out all fluids. I've noticed while the car was idling temps were reaching 108-110c. Just wanted to know if this was normal or if something is wrong. Also while the car is idling sometimes this noise would appear kind of like a bass drum being hit. It can be felt throughout the cabin. I know these cars shake a lot due to the big v8 but this noise is very apparent when heard and felt. It happens randomly when the car is either cold or warm and only lasts about a 30 seconds to a minute. If anyone has experienced this before your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Could it be engine mounts?
With regard to the temp, my ML63 & C63 both consistently run at 102c in pretty much all weather.
If HAMMERING it, and i mean really driving hard, C63 gets to 109c

Don't worry , I know mine is newer , but 111 is normal for me and that's when I consider it nice and warmed up, if it gets above 115 than she starts to get too hot although the highest I've seen is 120 on crazy not days

thanks for the replies. Much appreciated! Im still having this weird noise appear at idle. Mercedes only has an appt available next week friday with a loaner. The engine idles smoothly, no problems with performance just has a weird bass drum like noise at idle. If anyone has any idea please share.
Thanks,
Dan
