Sell my '10 c63 and buy a '12 c63 bs?
Hey guys, first of all I love my '10 c63, however I found '12 c63 bs and I want it haha. In Japan cars devalue at a faster rate due to the general population always wanting new stuff (apartments, houses, cars, ect).
I bought my car with about 13,000 km (8,000 miles) I've done some mods as u can see in my sig. It cost me about 85,000$ usd including all the work I've done on it. I drive it hard and love it. However I can't stop thinking about this black series I found. It has 6,000km (3,700 miles) on it. It's a 2012, mint condition, one owner, no accidents, non smoker, the color I want, the 4 seater option that I want etc. The price tag is 130,000$
As I'd mentioned before cars devalue at an incredible rate here. I went to the dealership yesterday and the sales man really loved my car and wants to buy it as is, plus all the original parts I have. He offered me 60,000$ for everything. Of course I want to get as much as possible for my car as it will make the black series cheaper for me. So I took my car to a few other places, the best price I could get from a dealer seems to be 60,000$ the first dealer seemed like a stand up guy and we talked a lot. He said the black series would be about 40,000$ cheaper if I wait a year but who wants to wait? Haha.
I was hoping to get 65-70k for my car since I've only been driving it for about 5 months and now has 17,000km (10,000miles) and in Japan the mods I've done actually increase the value of my car. So to get such a low offer made me have second thoughts. Is it worth it to take a 25,000$ hit to buy the bs which supposedly will devalue so significantly in a year? Or just wait a year and see what I feel like then?
I feel like just buying the bs but would like to hear some other people's opinions before I make my final decision. Any opinion is welcome.
Thank you very much
Rob

Haha dubzamg, I love thoes multi spokes too! Unfortunately if I decide to sell the car they will be sold with the car.
Amgboost, yes my car is already super fast, faster then a bs and I could get a lots of other great cars but after sitting inside the bs yesterday, I really got excited. It's so much sportier, I love everything about it. Quite a differnce actually between the c63 and the c63 bs. And if I want it to be faster, I can always weistec super charge it. Is plenty of car right out the box though, I would just dechrome and throw on some 20" HRE wheels and drop it. The r35 is amazing, but I do love the combination of sport and luxury amg gives. I really love the m156 and most likely would remain loyal to Benz. Unless I decide to buy an Aston Martin.
Maroonc63, yea I'm super close to pulling the trigger, already smiling just thinking about it. I love the fenders and I can get wider tires.
Thanks guys for your opinions!

OP,
Stick to your guns and take no less than $65K for your C63. I don't believe the salesman who claims the BS will drop $40k in another year. I'd argue not even in Japan. No way. I could believe that quick depreciation on a C63, but not a C63 BS! The BS is a rare, one year only production car. Limited supply & demand will keep that car's value considerably above any other C63 AMG. No way will that car depreciate that much in one year.
Offer the salesman $125k for the BS. You would then be where you want to be (netting you an addtional $10k to your advantage), judging by your e-mail...
If the deal comes into fruition, it was meant to be. If not, no biggie. It wasn't meant to be. Move on... This is how I go about my life.
BTW, if you happen to purchase the BS, don't molest/mod it. You'll ruin the resale on the BS if you do...

+1. If you're not tracking the car, i dont see why you would get it. It won't be any faster in a straight line then your c63 with tune and headers. If you have that kind of money look around at other cars. Unless you feel like dumping that into a B.S.

IMO, there are only 3 reasons to upgrade to a CBS from a standard C63.
1. You are planning on taking it on a roadcourse.
2. You want to have more fun throwing the car around on the street.
3. You want bragging rights. (Not really a good reason IMO but some ppl buy em cuz they're top of the line).
I wouldn't even throw lower depreciation as a reason, CBS might depreciate less % wise, but will definitely depreciate more $ wise.

Thank you very much for your advice, I totally agree. If it happens it happens if not, I still have a great car.
Also, thank you to everyone else that shared their thoughts. Very helpful and very appreciated !!
