I highly doubt it. You may be able to physically mount a 255 tire on an 8" rim, but I suspect that the excessive sidewall flexing you'd get would be more detrimental (if not outright dangerous) than the marginally increased traction you'd get from the slightly larger contact patch. You can squeeze in a 255 on the front (I just ordered wider outer barrels for my 3-piece wheels to do exactly this), but you'd need a 9" wide rim with the proper offset.

It certainly appears that way. I bought a set of forged 3-piece DPEs (8.5" F & 9.5" R) from a member here that were originally made for a C350 (not C63). Ran those with 245F & 275R Michelin PSS w/ no issues. Had room to go further out on the fronts so I got a set of 12mm spacers and longer bolts to try out and am now running that setup, again w/ no issues (wheels still nicely tucked in). Car is a Canadian 2013 Coupe w/ the APX package (10 mm lower & stiffer P30 suspension + P31 + LSD) and there is no rubbing whatsoever even in either case when fully loaded and heavy braking / cornering at track speeds w/ two people in it. So, seeing as I have at least 12 mm (~0.5") of room to play with, removing the spacers and getting a 0.5" wider outer barrel and a 10 mm wider tire seems to be quite possible.
