I have the version 1 intake, the version 2 is the picture you posted. The shape and MAF location are different from the one I have.

I don't believe Renntech has updated the pictures on there sight to reflect the new design.

Version 1 might be that CF intake which had slightly bigger air filter housing. This one is not available on Renntech website and I don't know why?
Maybe Mike @ Renntech can explain.

The version I have is a 1 piece design. I haven't thrown any codes etc.

From Petro's testing, the Renntech box also makes more power compared to the Carbonio.

Well theses pictures are old so that is why i believe the one you have are the V2 and only available CF intakes from Renntech. My guess is the V1 design was abandoned at some point. A shame Mike @ Renntech doesn't chime in

No cel lights anymore after removing the carbonio. Upon removing the maf I noticed the seal didn't look too healthy so maybe leaking there. I think wear and tear finally caused issues after using it a year without any problems. Plan to permanently seal the old Mafs to the carbonio with silicone to test it. Miss the grunt and smoothness of the box but am beginning to like punchy feel these rows produce. Idling way better with the rows vs carbonio.

Hi there, I'd like to let you know that our AMG 63 intake kits come with MAF gaskets to prevent any air leaking past the MAF.

Contact our office if you require new MAF gaskets.

Sorry guys I am waiting on the correct answer from the boss on the V1 and V2. I am new here and do not want to give any wrong info.

Thanks for the reply...did you guys get my previous emails and pm's sent? Was running into issues a few weeks ago. I am planning for a permanent fix to be honest vs just the gaskets. I am aware of the gaskets and will review if this is an option or if I am looking for something permanent. Please review my prior pm's and support emails I sent here and direct to the company. I have also contacted vivid racing to reach out to you but have yet to hear a response from anyone. Thank you

So you think that the intake was worth it. I couldn't decide if I wanted to get it or not?

What are you hoping to achieve? if you are simply looking to make more power / tq, this may not be high on your priority list. Unless you already have the other bolt on mods available for our cars.

I too think the look would be vastly improved with a CF front cover. Maybe someone (Boca?) makes one already that would be a good match for the RENNtech piece from the quality standpoint.
I thought Dodger may have used one before?

This is basically the only airbox that is proven to make power. It's a night and day difference.

Gents,

Just a heads up, I managed to get the car out to the dyno. Put down 419 WHP and 395 lbft tq on a stock tune. I am convinced the Renntech box makes good power.

Attached is the dyno graph.

It is genuine, There are 2 different version of this intake. The MAF locations are a bit different on them.

As for fitting the intake, its compression fit. Not cutting or modification is required.

I personally prefer the Carbonio.

You get the same amount of numbers/output and get all carbon fiber. Makes SUCH a difference when the hood is popped!!

Kriston, do you install the factory seal onto the intake (where it sits over the throttle bodies) Or remove the factory seal?

Factory seal is removed and replaced by the renntech seal.

I'm downing the Renntech piece at all. And you're right different strokes....... I was just voicing my opinion and like the entire CF piece(or 3 as it were). And same with Carbonio, seal is replaced along with filters.

It's an awesome piece but extremely expensive compared to a set of ROW airboxes for about $550 including pro-dry filters..

Would you guys say its worth it?

Kriston -- thank you for taking the time to do this! For what it’s worth, I had one on my previous C55 and did some back to back dyno testing against the stock airbox. The Renntech airbox consistently showed about a 6-8 rwhp/tq gain for me everytime – same day, same dyno, same operator..

https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...dent-dyno.html

Any plans to get a tune for it?
