Vehicle Maintenance

Hi,

I'm finishing up the 10,000 mi or 1 year vehicle maintenance and my booklet says to "replace combination filter."

Is this the in-cabin dust filter?

Thanks for the help!

Are you sure replacing the combination filter is part of service 1/A at 10000 miles or 1 year? My service book (2010) has that as part of service 2/B at 20000 miles or 2 years.

+1 My 2010 service manual also has the cabin filters listed under Service B. Service A is just an oil change.

You can purchase it from the autoparts store, but it will have to be ordered. I'm pretty sure that's not an item they keep in stock.

MB Maintenance Booklet
Edition C 2013

Service at 10,000 miles or 1 year:

"Replace combination filter"

Service at 20,000 miles or 2 years:

"Replace combination filter and/or dust filter (where applicable)"

So the question is, are there multiple filters that need replacing?

I only have 5000 miles but am at the 1 year mark. Replacing the in-cabin air filter at this time seems ridiculous to me.

My advice to you is to use your own judgement on replacing those items. Just because a manual tells you to replace it, doesn't mean it really needs to be replaced. Pop out your cabin filters and see if they appear dirty to you, if they appear clean, then you don't need to replace. Same for engine air filter.

Isnt the cabin filter tough to access ?
If you are going to the trouble might as well replace it
Having ssid that I would not replace it at 5k miles
The filter is consumed by use/ mileage not time

Cabin filter is behind the glove box and accessible from under.
