Scary driving moments
So i was off to work this morning. Took the hwy as usual. It was pouring. As i was going up to speed (usual 70 mph) I felt I was losing control of the car. It was kind of shaky left to right. It was like driving on ice!!
I started to slow down but that's where things got worse as traffic quickly caught me up. Any cars or trucks passing me were just creating turbulent air affecting my car's stability . At some point i felt I would end up in the barrier !!
Luckily I made it to work but on my way back home tonight i had a puncture!!lol! I have some type of screw in my right rear tire. Definitely I need new rubber! They have 8k mls on them. If it wasn't for the rain today i would have kept running them for while. But with the rain back here it's getting too dangerous.
The question is regarding Michelin warranty. Will it work even though i have a flat? Tires are supposed to last 15k miles and are almost dead at 8k. Will i get credit for the remaining 7k?
I had to put back the OEM 18 in the meantime.

that'll make you pucker up a bit. not a fun experience. most tire warranties are for defects or something of that nature. did you get a road hazard or tread wear warranty with the purchase of the tires?

Americas tire gave me partial credit for my rear pss warranty. They made an assessment that I didn't do burn outs raced or abused the tires, then I got like 40% credit toward new tires. I don't think the puncture should change that. It is very much dependent on the dealer.

Close call Anthony! But yeah, why ur tpms sensor didn't tell u 1 tire was low?
Was the unstability of the car caused by the nail? Or by the bald tires in the rain?

Glad you're alright bro! Yeah best to get some new treads on her before taking yourself, or surrounding motorists out!
I had this issue back when I was around 19 or so. I had a 99 10th year anniversary edition eclipse with 18's on it (came with 16" OZ F1 Cups stock). Nice car, but with the 18's I couldn't keep tires on it. I ran BF Goodrich GForce TA's and would get maybe 6-7k miles from them.
The first time I ran them, I had no idea, but I was showing good tread on the outside, but chords were showing on the inside.
Had a really sketchy ride to Downtown Pittsburgh one day in the rain. I check my tread religiously ever since. I hit a wear bar, and they are getting changed.
Not worth taking chances.

You my friend were experiencing "HydroPlane" where the tires do not have enough tread on them to cut through the water but actually ride on top of the water, creating no control. Why why why would anyone allow their tires to get that worn and then hear statements like oh why did your TMPS not register a low tire, dude the tires were shot weeks or months ago, and a blind man on the sidewalk could have seen the lack of tread, just how long do you locals run a tire, until the cords are slapping the fender well\? The tire is worn out plain and simple open up your wallet and buy new tires, LOL for the mileage warranty, money is on the fronts are in good shape. Does no one do a walk around their car, even when washing it and look at things, like tires , air pressure, wear pattern , are all the lights working, is the oil level okay, is the coolant tank at the proper level, is there washer fluid , is their gas in the tank, are the windows up tight before washing, come on guys, think!!!
And also that screw was probably in that tire for at least 500 miles, that was the tick tick tick you heard that you thought was your lifters LOL.

Obsidian Black 2009 C63 w/ P30 Package
I just removed a nail like that from my rear right from my Michellin PSS. The damn sucker was about 3 inches long and was bent.
Needless to say it was a pain to patch.

Thanks everyone for the concern
I did get a dash notification yesterday when driving back home. Probably when I hit this screw. Right away I had this red warning. I knew it was a puncture because you usually get a "check tire pressure" if for some reason one of your tire goes slightly lower than the psi set in the TPMS.
So Critter that screw was not there for months!!lol! Plus last week end I took the wheels off to check my brakes and adjust my KW (again!!).
I knew my tires were at the end of their lifespan but it has been dry for a while here so this was not a major concern. I just wanted to push them as far as I could
So don't worry guys I'm not looking for excuses. I can only blame it on me.

So when you took the wheels off you did a 360 on the tire tread and did not notice you were on borrowed time,(took the highway as usual) then go out in a downpour @ 70 and wonder what is wrong, wow. Just be thankful the barrier was not in the mood for some paint.
On a positive note, good wear pattern of those PSS.

Michelin will smile and say you got good life out of the tire, regardless what the odometer told you. At those "wear bars" are the end of the warranty. IMO
Ingenieur, read the first statement the tires have 8K on them and the OP wants warranty for the 7K that he is deprived of
"If it wasn't for the rain today i would have kept running them for while" LOL.

well, they do warrant them for wear if properly inflated, correct size and good alignment
void if tracked or abused in their opinion
can't hurt to ask though
is the PSS mileage warranty 15k miles?
here's the rub
they will give you credit for what you paid against MSRP
50% of the mileage
if you paid 1200 they give you 600
and you must buy new tires at MRSP, if 1800, they still cost 1200, lol

See where u are going, yes the warranty is for 15K and they will look at the wear bars on the back tires and then compare to the front tires which I would imagine have lots of tread and then say, sure here is another set sorry you did not get 15K on the rear of your 500 HP modded car. They might like to keep them to show other 63 owners what proper alignment, pressure should look like on a PSS. IMO
We will have to wait for the outcome, should be interesting.

This doesn't excuse for letting the tires goes bald but look at the pics, they are not completely bald yet. Everyone is guilty for getting the most out of our tires.

good point, they will only replace the rears (assuming the fronts are good, as is usually the case with cars like these)
they will give him credit of what he paid against a new pair at MSRP
he'll break even and they will make money honoring the warranty, lol
curious as to what the outcome will be

^^ yep, I heard the warranty is always deducted from the msrp of a new tires, not worth it if u have a good relation with ur tire dealers & get great pricing.

warranty
http://www.michelinman.com/mediabin/...warranties.pdf
30k miles, only 15k for staggered sets
???
Excludes DOT-approved competition tires (e.g., Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup tires). Mileage warranties apply to tires that come as original equipment on model year 2011 and later vehicles. Some vehicles come from the vehicle manufacturer with “split fitments”—
meaning different size tires on the front and rear axles. Because these tires cannot be rotated as recommended by Michelin, the mileage warranty on each rear tire will cover half the number of miles as the standard mileage warranty for that particular tire design.
ZP (Zero Pressure) tires have the same mileage warranty as the standard tire line they are part of, but not to exceed 30,000 miles. PAX® System tires are covered by a 36,000-mile warranty. MICHELIN® Winter tires require documentation of the timing of the
installation and removal of the tires each winter to maintain coverage under the limited warranty for treadwear. Winter months is defined as the period beginning on or after September 1 of a given year, and ending no later than April 30 of the following year.
*Tire also had a limited mileage warranty prior to March 1, 2011.

Op, dude, there is so much speculation bs is going on here. All meaningless until you nicely ask your tire guy to consider warranty. It's worth the asking.
Also critter would like to adopt you as his son.
