Side Mirror Arrow LED turn signal removal
Has anyone removed and reused the led turn signal from the mirror cover on a FL model? Is it hard to remove?
I'm trying to figure out if I need to purchase a mirror cover which includes the LED turn signal or if I can reuse the one I have. I'm planning to replace my Irid. Silver mirrors with carbon fibers ones and it is much cheaper if I can just buy the mirror cover sans the leds rather than the whole assembly.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks!

This may provide you with some insight if you can gather any information from the wires he un-plugs when removing the cover. I know it isn't directly on point, but I feel like it may provide you with some insight if you have a keen eye. Good luck, interested to see what you find, so keep us updated.

So after taking off the mirror cover I believe it is possible to reuse the LED blinker arrows. Here are some pics below:
After taking off the mirror cap per the above instructions (video) the LED strip has two T10 star screws and two tabs holding it in place (the black plastic strip is the back of the LED strip):
Bottom up view:
One more view:
Remove the screws and the tabs should easily pop out. The issue is that the small middle portion of the mirror cover looks to be actually glued to the LED strip (top skinny portion of the mirror cover).
You can see where it is sticking better from this angle:
I pried and worked it a little bit and I think I was getting the adhesive to give a little. (I didn't want to risk breaking it as I don't have my new mirror covers yet.) I'm sure a few minutes with a hair dryer would do wonders. It looks like the LEDs should then pop out.
While I'm not 100% sure there isn't one more step, I'm confident enough that I'm going to order just the covers (sans LED strip) and try to reuse the OEM one.
Hopefully this is helpful to someone else as well.
Cheers!

Well, my carbon fiber covers came in this past week so I decided to put them on today. Overall, it was fairly simple, only complicated by a little bit of work with the dremel. I ordered the cheapest set of actual "covers" I could find on ebay that I was able to confirm was OEM equivalent. Well, they weren't quite OEM fit, but close enough considering I only paid $138 shipped for the set. Fit and finish is quite good as well for the $$.
Overall, I'm very happy with how they turned out!

Nice!! I'm thinking about doing exactly what you did and all the questions I had you were able to answer, I do have one question..why did you have to use the dremel? to get the led light strip to sit flush?

He ordered from Ebay, so they weren't an exact fit. I'm sure if you get them from JBspeed or RWcarbon, they are exact fit? But you will be paying $280. Can anyone confirm?
Looks good

Going on a tangent here, but do you know where I can order the LED strip separate? Had a hit and run, but thankfully only my LED strip on the mirror is cracked. Still works, but it's a lease..
Got to get it fixed and I wanted to see if there was any other way rather than bringing it to the dealer to fix. They claimed that the LED strip is not sold separate and that I need to buy the whole housing cover. Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated!

Yeah, I want to get them from JBSpeed too, but they charge and arm and a leg. Has anyone been able to confirm yet?
