128mph at 11.9? You mean 118mph or 10.8 or were you just spinning the first 60ft?

Good luck either way?

The way it works is you drill some holes in the side of the rim, and drill a screw into the sidewall of the tyre, it stops the tyres spinning on the rim.

I am not 100% sure this is the problem as I didnt think the car has enough torque to do it but I might be wrong, its just something I might try to see if it helps improve the times.

From here Ill see if I can do some tweaking with the setup, remove a little weight, see if I can get to a 10.5 or 10.6.

I'd love to see a Stage 3 car in Australia, but there aren't many and they all run the same boost as Stage 2 cars. My car actually has more whp than the stage 3 cars I have seen in Oz because they don't have built trannys.

Charlie, how much boost do you run? I have seen a weistec s2 c63 here in Qld go 11.5@ 128mph on factory 19s with a lot of wheel spin. But as you said, I'd like to see a stage 3 with some boost run in aus. That should def hit low 10s

If you want to know if your tires are spinning on the wheels there is a trick. Mark the sidewall with chalk and carry the line over the lip of the wheel. If the tire spins on the wheel the lines will no longer match up and you will know for sure if the tire is spinning on the wheel. I think you probably know this but I didn't see it mentioned in this thread.

Weight reduction 300-400 lbs (see Mthis) and skinnies on the front = 10.5 GL

Nice run!!! Makes me think I should have done a Weistec Stage 2 C63 instead of going crazy with my car. I'm sure the car has more in it. Can't wait to see your future times! good luck!

225 might be enough for a 1.7 60' but to get to 1.5 or below I would think you need more meat than that. 255 will get you there

Standard Stage II boost, 8psi.

Thanks mate, already been talking to mthis, so might try some weight reduction in the near future.

The car is lowered, so without playing with the suspension I can't go to 255s, I might just have to play with tyre pressure and launch and hopefully better it a bit.

I started at 19psi, my 60ft were 1.69, 1.70, 1.70, I dropped it to 16psi to see how that went and went 1.73 60ft. In saying that the last run was later in the night so the track had dropped in temp and there was no action on the track for an hr because of coolant leak in a car, so the track temp would have dropped substantially and could have contributed to the bad 60ft time.

Any suggestions Eks?

I have 275/40-17 Hoosier Drag Radials. The tire/wheel combo might be for sale soon, still haven't decided yet.

ya we have retarded spinning, you know what a stage 2 feels like with street tires, thats how it performs on the track lol. Ya trying to procure a second spare tire to have skinnies up front and need to snag something for the rears for track duty

I'll go back again and try different PSI and different launches. What did you find the best launch method was?

Lol. I know the feeling.

I was thinking about a 2nd space saver for the front and can get one but I'm not confident that they will withstand the beating they will get. Has anyone tried them at the track with success? I'm guessing they will need proper drag front rubber.

If track prep is very good, and the car is setup to run on a drag radial rather than a slick, you will see more MPH at the end of the track.

The trick is just getting the car to hook with a drag radial.

I would remove the tires first clean it really well with denatured alcohol or acetone, then get the installer to mount them using denatured alcohol or acetone and NOT SOAP. if this fails then try glueing them in. Lastly i would use screws, seeing as over time you have to use larger and larger screws.

As a last resort, look into beadlocks..

ps the popular choice seems to be to use Permatex High Tack gasket sealant.. just brush it on let it sit for a few 15 min or so and then inflate.
