Garage door opener
Friends, haters, lovers...
I have a question. Any of you back into your garage? And if so, do you have any trouble with using the garage door opener on your rear view mirror? I can't get my door to open up while I'm in reverse. Therefore, I drive into my driveway straight, open the door, and back out again just to back into the garage.
One thing, my garage door opener (the actually thing inside the garage) is a bit older and I wonder if it just has a bad time picking up the sensor because of age. I'm about to just download an app on my phone and wire up my garage/house into a smart house so I can open it from my phone until I figure something out.
Thanks

I would think the home link is directional, but honestly I've never tried it in reverse. I do, however, have the wifi set up on my garage door and it works like a charm.

Yea on my 09 it seemed to work. It also works in reverse because if I pull in the driveway straight and then put the car in reverse I can open it rarely.
It seems as though the door wont even open for me going in straight anymore though. I really don't want to replace the garage door and door opener but this may be an excuse.

Mine doesn't work in reverse either. But it works fine when I'm driving up the street to my house, about 150 feet away. So I click it then, and then swing around and reverse it in. Always do. People always comment on it to, like it's weird. I just find it easier. But yes, I've noticed that the transmitter is somewhat directional.

I back in, but I use the Garage door opener that came with the house. I can not get the one in the car to recognize the opener. I hit the button before I get to the house about 250ft and then its opening when I back in.

I gave my brother the garage door opener. It appears as though I have made a mistake

Backed up to the garage door, car still in reverse, hit the button under the mirror and voila - the door opened.
Happily, I didn't give my opener to my brother (what exactly does that mean?)

Ditto. I really want my in car iPod to be able to be automatically updated, while in car, with any playlist or music or podcast updates. It's just plain stupid this tech doesn't exist yet. Every time I pull it out and then attach it to my computer to download new tunes I feel idiotic. Especially when I'm running a Sonos wireless audio system in my house. Garage door openers should be frigging effortless. Anyone know when wifi will be avail on the C63 - is avail on other MBs?

I don't like rich exhaust startup fumes and muffler "startup spit" pointed in toward my house where it can creep into the house and stain my walls, so I always pull in forward

The garage door opener in the garage has an antenna that has to hang down. If it is curled up inside the area where the lights are it does not transmitt the signal out far. Make sure the antenna on the unit is hanging down. If it still does not work I would get a newer garage door opener. I can be 200 feet away from my garage door opener in reverse and press the button and it works great. I have a newer Chamberlein opener about 2 years old. You can also buy a booster for the garage signal that is wired to the opener inside the garage. It has an antenna that is mounted outside the garage. Years ago I bought one and they really do not work well. I would replace the garage door opener inside the garage.

I reverse my car into my garage and it is about 80 feet from the entrance of my driveway. That is about the limit to where I can open the garage door.

So yea, my antenna was tucked away from when I painted my garage and never put it back.
Works much better, but can't seem to find a sweet spot in reverse.
