Thank you all again, I'll think I'll go with the C63 then. Getting slightly better than 20 MPG is good to hear as mentioned above (I'm mostly freeway) and yes I love Waze, everyone should get this app if you commute a fair distance. It's cool because you can also send your trip to somebody else that you're driving to (coming home, going to a friends house, etc...) so they know EXACTLY when you'll arrive. I won't hijack my own thread though, but great app, get Waze.

Next, my job can be stressful (whose can't i suppose), so having a fun car, I enjoy on my 1.5 hour/daily commute home, allows me to, "Decompress" if this makes any sense. I hear the C63 is one of the most fun cars to drive, very engaging so to speak, so looking foward to it.

Thank you all again, this really, really helps and the moment I get it I'll post here. (should be within 30-45 days tops).

Also, I thought about the E, but as I've had one already, granted E55, looking for a new AMG experience, if that makes any sense. Plus I can get a CPO C63 for quite a bit less an a 6.2L E63, and the C is faster (once tuned), and it's lighter, hence me leaning towards the C.

Due to that very lightness, after I tune it and put on headers resulting in (~570 HP) it will be zero to 60 MPH in the high 3's and quarter mile in the 11's with a trap speed in the 120MPH's which is VERY respectable in my view.

Might have to do another 0-160MPH-0 run in a mile to try and beat my old record. (See video in sig below.)

Lastly, we only live once right...so if you love driving, which I/we all do, and you can have a car that has a degree of practicality to boot (4 doors, good size trunk) why not pull the trigger on it? Plus the C63 looks great, very menacing, muscular, like a closed fist in my view, and who here doesn't want to drive a car that looks great.

Thank you all again, I really, really appreciate your guidance here.

Alex

In short, I'll be getting a new DD in the next 30 days and I'm TORN about getting another AMG, specifically a C63. This AMG will be my DD and I drive 100 miles daily too and from work in AZ (so it's hot), so is there any reason I SHOULDN'T go with a C63?

As far as I can tell the downsides would be:
  • Poor gas mileage (don't really care)
  • Small gas tank (17 gallons) means I'll have to fill up every 2-3 days (which would be kind of annoying)
  • Cost to Mod (fairly high)
  • Smallish inside. (I'm 6'2, 245 lbs, mostly muscle for what it's worth) so will it suck sitting in this car for 2.5 hours a day driving?
  • Small backseats. While it's just me driving for work I'll occasionally take my team out to lunch
  • Reliable? My E55 was NOT reliable, so how often will this be in the shop? (I'll get an extended warranty, but it became very annoying with my E55)
Cars I'm looking at are C63, CTS-V, GT500, Challenger/Charger SRT8.

I love AMG and want to get back in one (sold my E55 last year when the extended warranty ran out) so can you please give me some pro's vs. the above cons? Basically help me convince myself.

Thanks in advance.

Alex
Tire replacement. I love everything about this car except having to replace the tires so frequently.

You'll be lucky to get 10k out of your fronts.

I'm also in AZ.

My 2009 is not my daily driver. I wish I could afford to drive it daily. It's more of a every other, other weekend warrior.

Cheers!

Yeah figured about the tires. I ended up putting Conti DWS on my E55 and they lasted 30K miles. So will probably go back to those as soon as I burn through the tires that come with the C.

Thanks!

It's the perfect DD as long as you have LSD. Here's my experience:
  • Better gas mileage than my S4 (I KID YOU NOT!) That *******g S4 is terrible on gas, but a pleasure to drive.
  • Small gas tank 17.4 gallons (I believe 20 gallons with reserve), S4 has 16.9 gallons (includes reserve) but b*tches about being empty after running through 13.5 gallons.
  • Doesn't need modding really.
  • I'm 6'1" and used to be 215 lbs (now i'm a 180 lbs Love machine **Couldn't help it** ), and never had any problems (Coupe, seat lowered to its max on Y axis).
  • Small backseats. It is problematic, but name a modern two door coupe that doesn't have this problem.
  • Reliable? YES, reliable like a Porsche.

The only other car I would suggest would be the CLS63 4Matic

Yes go for it! 2010/2011 C63 vs 2013 Challenger SRT cannot hold a candle to AMG performance, fun factor, exhaust sound. If you mentioned new hellcat with 707 HP that is a tougher decision but for a daily driver C63 all the way.

E63 vs C63 is a totally different car in my opinion. E63 more luxury hauler and the C63 is much more nimble and exhaust note on the C is to die for.

My 2011 C63 P31 is my DD as well. Love my commute. I'm 23 miles though town to work. I make it 30 miles by going around town and avoiding traffic. One thing the C63 hates is sitting in traffic. I get about 22 MPG hwy, however in bad stop and go traffic that usually drops to 13 MPG.

Totally agree on watching your speed, I can easily be in the 90s and not realize. Also, without driving too agressively back tires only last about 9K miles.

The interior experience is great. Our family of four took it from northern AL to Orlando. Kids did not complain about the back seat.

This guy has NO idea what he's talking about. The Challenger is based off the same platform as the Charger and 300. There is TONS of back seat room. You'd be hard pressed to find a 2 door with more back seat room than the Challenger.

He must be thinking Camaro.
