Transmission Selector Dial

Long story short, cars been fine till now. Drove it all last week, this saturday evening got into the car and noticed that the transmission dial is not longer illuminated. I could not select S,S+ or M. Did some reading on here, as per some posts i let the car sit in the garage all day sunday hoping it would do its own reset but nothing changed. There is no message popping up in the dash. Might have to take it into the dealer unless someone chimes in.

Happened to me. Wouldn't select or anything. Just drive it around and try it then. Magically fixed itself for me (and others)

happened to me too. i posted my experience once and seems some other folks had similar cases as well. the solution is to shut off and leave the car alone for 1-2 hours and it gets reset as normal

It happened to me once. I've said this half dozen times in identical threads, so it seems like it happens to everyone once.

I let the car sit for 8 hours now and still nothing. So i took it into the dealer this morning. 2 hours later i get some news. They scanned the computer and they found noting, they replaced the dial with a new one and still nothing. They have email MB Germany with this problem and are waiting on further advice.

mm...weird thing, pls keep updating the status. usually its a software issue - i believe, since when you perform cold start the system should check and throw code if any error occurs

Another thing I noticed tonight while driving around town. Along with the dial not working I can not turn off traction controll also! I hold the button and nothing changes in the dash. Could this be as simple as a blown fuse?
