Rear Tyres!

Ok..

Every C63 owner knows the dilemma of frying the rear tyres and rear tyre wear.
I'm not too fussed about spending $$ on tyres.

I've used just about every reputable tyre brand and have found Toyo T1 Sports to be the best tyres for my C63 (235/35/19 Front and 265/30/19 Rear) Hence why i've stuck it out with this brand and have loved every moment of the grip and performance! In my opinion the grip in wet/dry and performance has been better than Pzeros, Pirelli Corsas and Michelin.

Unfortunately the rear tyre size for Toyo T1 Sport is sold out nationally awaiting stock to arrive which is a good 4-6 weeks away.

I have Toyo R888's that i use for the track but don't plan on putting them back on the rear. I'm currently running Toyo T1 Sports on the front and they're about 80%.

What i was going to ask, is should i put a cheap tyre on the rear since i'm just going through tyres constantly.. I do about 10 000k's a year which is nothing but i'm having to change rear tyres because of spirited driving and camber wear put together... every 3000km's.

Does anyone else out there run reputable expensive tyres for the front and cheapies for the rear?

I was thinking either Achilles ATR Sport or something along those lines. Price isn't an issue, it's availability. I would rather stick with the same brand front and back regardless of model type but i can't find any Toyo T1 Sports in stock at the moment.

Did you try Yokohama Advan Neova AD08Rs? They seem to have better traction than the Toyo T1 Sports. I now have mine for about 3200 km (2000 miles) and they are still 60% - 70% (guess). I do drive them on tame commutes for a good part, which helps, but I also love to corner quickly in Sport mode on a daily basis.

Disclaimer: I have 255s in front and 295s in rear, since I have wider fenders.

You can always go Hankook V12's. Tirerack is currently running a promotional sale on them. They are a good cheap alternative for your 3k miles tire changes.

Hankooks are okay if you are just putting it around, but once they get down past 50% tread they have little grip.

Personally on my 135i (not c63 but makes more torque) I run "Accelera" brand all around. Cost me $500 installed FOR THE SET. Not made in china and they visually look just like a continental contisport tire. I've turned a bunch of my friends onto them as well. Fronts have lasted me 30k so far rears typically last about 20k. Grip is surprisingly decent for the pricepoint.

TRUST ME WITH THIS!

Kumho Ecsta XS

Best grip for the price

On my Sedan I had PSS in the front and Kumhos on the Rear just to get me through until I put winters on!

The Kumho Ecsta XS appears to only have one single size in 19 inches, and that is 285/35/19. Almost right for the BS, but should be 30 cross-section I believe.

And no way to have a fitting set of 4.
