09 c63 serpentine belt diagram
does anyone have a diagram of the serpentine belt pattern for our cars? I got to replace mine as its starting to fray and just wanted to have a printout handy as i find it easier than trying to get a good cell phone pic in cramped space to go off of.
i remember i had to take the radiator fan/shroud off when doing in on my E55 and i think the c63 is going to have even tighter quaters so trying to make it as easy as possible on myself lol

1. Remove engine intake air duct and front engine cover.
2. Remove bottom engine compartment paneling.
3. Loosen poly v-belt (1) and remove. To do this turn the hexagon (3) counterclockwise and lock the poly v-belt tensioning device (6) with a pin (4) (diameter 5mm).
4. Check profile of belt pulley and poly v-belt tensioning device for damage and soiling.
5. Check poly v-belt (1) for wear and damage and replace if necessary.
6. Check guide pulleys (7,8,9) and replace if necessary.
7. Carry out engine test run.

I deleted the AC for my track build and had to decide on 2 shorter belts. It ended being a tad bit too short if I kept the the "red" idler. Perfect with it removed and I noticed in the pic here it doesn't even exist. Anyone else have this idler?
EDIT: The "green" spot is where the AC compressor was.

I searched quite a few belt route images before I found one the same as mine.
Most images don’t have that lower idler although FCP Euro list it in their belt kit.

My 2012 has the idler pulley between the AC and crank pulley (#10 in the other thread diagram). I thought it was the older engines that did not have it. I figured it was added to take out a little harmonic flutter between the AC and crank pulleys. Maybe something to do with the on/off nature of the clutch in the AC unit.

What year is yours? It's essentially useless. Probably why it doesn't exist on newer models.

The distance across with out the AC and that pulley may have had the belt fluttering too much.
Having that pulley in place most likely keeps the belt nice and steady.

Alex "legit Street Cars" youtube had to replace his because the pulley was wobbling.

Newer m156's all have that idler. It's usually earlier builds 07-09 that are missing it. They actually came up with a nice elaborate bracket for the clk63 black series to update to it without having to replace the front timing cover of the engine so you could add that one pulley.

A find of mine was thinking there's too much wrap around the crank pulley. Possibly why that little idler was there in the first place.

My assumption is either to take a possible excessive stress off the a/c compressor, or maybe since they assumed they'd likely do track duty the quick or harsh engine deceleration may cause looseness on the opposite side of the crankshaft on the belt potentially tossing it? They're crafty germans. Has to be important or they wouldn't have bothered with it.
