So last year I had to replace the lower grille. Something broke it on the freeway. It seems to be that time of year again. I have no problem removing the bumper and doing it myself but it's a pain. Is there anything else other than the stock piece that is stronger, maybe made of metal? I've seen a couple metal mesh pieces that go in front of the stock plastic one, but I'm not a fan. Anyone have any recommendations of grilles not made of toothpicks? Thanks!

Try one of those metal ones you speak of, but plastitip it black?

Yeah I've thought about that. Some even come in black. They just look like a Pepboys special though. And they cost $300. I dont mind the cost, as long as it looks like it belongs on the car.
