AMG doesn't want to dilute the brand either.
AMG does want to capitalize on what BMW and Audi have been doing for years with their M Sport cars and S Line cars.
Neither BMW nor Audi gives these cars authentic M or RS/Quattro badging. Similarly, Mercedes will only be using the "Sport AMG" badging on the front fenders of the sportier models.
And, as I said before, the U.S.-bound cars may not get the "Sport AMG" badges on the front fenders at all.

I've got no issue with this (said the contrarian). I guess I look at it as: 1) as all of us are really into our vehicles, and KNOW the difference between a legit C63 (or E63, etc.) and some C300 AMG, then pretty much everyone will also know the difference if they're into their cars at all, which nearly all AMG owners are; 2) it gives more options to buy a vehicle that best suits your interests. I love my C63, and I know that if I roll up next to a C300 AMG we'll both know what's up. But perhaps in the future I'll want some in-between model, with more power than the base class, some additional options, but not full-bore AMG. And yes, they're doing it cause everyone else is and it will expand their sales.

How disgusting, I hate even having people ask if this is just a special c series!😡 fortunately more people than I thought realize what it is even girls, a couple good looking ones had even been like, that is a nice c63amg, wtf! All my badges r blacked out no offense but they were chick's and knew what it was! I was like wow, cool. They were like we were sure when we heard the exhaust note. And a good convo starter, they were cute as hell. Turned out this chick drove a modded 2012 Scooby sti and she was really cute!

AMGs are kind of sleeper cars.. Your story with those girls is really an exception IMO. Most girls don't know sh*t and think it's just a Mercedes. How many times I had a girl coming in my car saying "nice Mercedes" followed by "I know a guy who had an A5/Camaro" or "the A5 of my friend stops the engine automatically at a red light" like it's a better car or something.
Bottom line is, those who know what an AMG is, will know the difference between an AMG and an AMG Sport.

I don't have a problem with MB selling AMG wheels, suspension, floor mats as options on base models, but it's DOGS#!T to put the ///AMG badge on the back of a non-AMG car - and worse to put AMG in the name of a non-AMG car. Of course I also think it's BS to put a 2 liter engine in a car and call it a C300 so I'm really old-fashioned about calling things what they are.

If you like the amg vehicle that you purchased, then what does it matter if they slap some amg badges, body kit, and tune on a lesser model?
