2014 c63 AMG Sedan vs. 2013 AMG Coupe

All,

I am new to the forum. I am looking to get my first MB and have been eyeing up the C63 AMG Sedan and the C63 AMG Coupe. Was wondering on everyone's thoughts on the pros vs. cons on each. Is there any concern from a re-sale point of view down the line that the current shape of the sedan is discontinued?

Any thoughts or advice would help. Look forward to becoming a MB owner in the near future.

thanks,
Matt

Should have mentioned, but as per the title I am looking at a 2014 C63 AMG sedan and a 2013 AMG Couple... similar pricing

I looked at both and if I had family that I expected to ride in the rear seat area the sedan would be better IMO.
It's just me and my wife at times and I like the coupe's appearance so that is what I purchased.

Other than rear seat accessibility the only other difference is the sedan is a little bit lighter since it cannot get the panoramic roof.

Re resale, it's human nature to want the latest model but for me, I wanted this magnificent engine.
Down the road there will always be twin turbo smaller displacement vehicles available. Not so for the M156 6.2 liter.

thanks for the feedback... it is a tough call for me... I sort of like the looks of the coupe better... my wife likes the look of the sedan better... ahahahha.... so far the ones I am finding the Sedan is cheaper for newer than the coupe... was concerned if down the line there would be any difference in resale between the two

with regards to the engine it is awesome.. .power on demand

I traded my 2014 E class for a 2014 C63 sedan. Absolutely love it. Not sure why you're even thinking about resale value at this point. THese 2014's are collectors items! Last 6.2L's. I personally like the look of the sedan, plus have two youngsters. It's a weekend/fun car for me so every time I get in it I'm like a kid on Christmas. Good luck. Hope you find what you're looking for. Where are you located?

Sedan looks better to me, its a sleeper! There are many choices in a 2 door category for me. You can't go wrong with either.

Both coupe and sedan are great cars and the engine is excellent - stock it sounds great and with headers it sounds phenominal. Can't make the wrong decision here but I personally like the coupe's styling inside out and loved my 2013 P31 coupe for the two years I owned it. Only suggestion is at least get one that has a limited slip diff, and I personally prefer the P31/507 cars too.

Love my 507 Coupe. Don't need 4 doors as I have other cars. Rear room is fine for adults once in a while. Trunk space is ample for size of car. The white leather/charcoal trim is impeccable.

I prefer the sedan. To me the coupe has an Accord styled rear window that I cannot shake off when I look at it.

Plus the sedan is lighter according to C&D.

I kinda agree. the side profile looks accord coupe-ish.

Two words: DO IT, you can't go wrong with either of those cars, although personally, I am partial to the Sedan, it's proportions are better and it has the Q car appeal of a wolf in sheep's clothing, so to speak.

thanks for all of the replies and opinions... most appreciated... the sedans I am finding do not have the P31 development package... they still look great though... love the looks of the 507 hood and rims... something that can be done later or do you have to go for a 507 to get that look?
thanks,
Matt

You can always add the rims and aftermarket hood. The factory aluminum 507 hood would also fit but would be a bit pricey. You could also add the 6 piston Brembo front calipers from the 507.
The 507 interior is very nice but I don't believe you can get that unless it's added aftermarket.

In the end, performance wise, they all have the same engine. It's just a different ECU flash that ups it's performance. Get the look you want then go from there.

2013 C63 Coupe
I have a 2013 Coupe. Anyway, I've read the Coupe is heavier than the sedan... Although you might need to fact check that. Like with the other post, I don't need a 4 door. My wife has a C class sedan.

I've had the sedans before when my son was little, he's in college now and my wife wants a new SLK or Boxter. So really our choices have change with time...

gents, great suggestions on the aftermarket hood and rims... at the risk of getting off topic on the thread any links to suppliers for those items? Will a dealer to the performance upgrade to the engine? Any affect to warranty?

Thanks again for tolerating all the questions... this will be my first MB so trying to learn a bit.
cheers,
Matt

i've owned both. an 09 sedan and now a 13 coupe. if you're tall the coupe has way more leg room than the sedan the seat goes back way further. I agree with accord look of the coupe wrapping the window trim in matte black helps. So far I prefer the coupe but that is mostly because it is the "newer" style and is a P31 LSD car.

To my knowledge, a dealer will not tune the engine for better performance. That is done by companies like Eurocharged. There are others but they are often named in this forum.

Any 'tune' affects the MB warranty. If the car needs to go into the dealer most re-flash the ECU to stock then flash back later.

Well I did more research and in fact found many different numbers for both coupe and sedan but couldn't find the original article where I read that the coupe was heavier. But while digging I found one that said the coupe was lighter. So coupe is lighter it seems. My bad.

We're talking little difference in weight btwn sedan and coupe.
Choose the one that best fits your want or need, they are both great machines.

any weight difference is negligible. By most accounts (my own included), the coupe handles a little better than the sedan out of the box. What you need to decide is whether your prefer 4 or 2 doors. You're winning in either case!

I have always preferred coupes but when the W204 coupe came out that rear window really put me off enough to choose the sedan. I think it shouldn't have had that little kick up at the back. It should have been more like the E coupe or CL. I've done a crappy mock up using Paint to try to show what I mean. Obviously it's very amateurish but you can see the direction I wish the designer had gone. Just my 2c
