AMA--Just Spent two days driving 2015 C63, C63s, and AMG GTS
Didn't see that anybody had done anything like this yet, but I just got back from two days of driving the absolute snot out of the AMG GTS and the all-new C63 and C63s at an AMg Expert event at the new Thermal Club in Palm Springs. Met with all of the head project managers and engineers from AMG, including the CEO Tobias Moers in a revealing and discussion of the C450 AMG Sport.
Very, very cool experience indeed--everything was very first class and I can tell you there are many exciting things happening with Mercedes and AMG right now. The GTS is going to shake up that car segment quite a bit.
The new 4.0L V8 will not disappoint, really, in any department.
I learned a lot of things, and straight from the horses mouth, so I figured I could pass some of that on to you guys, if you have anything you've been wondering about.

Not the OP but all of the official photos of the C63 and C63 S have confirmed that the gear selector will be on the steering column.

How's the exhaust note on the W205 C63?

In comfort mode around the track, the tires squealed in protest, but firm it up in sport or sport+, and the sound diminished and the car became noticeabley tighter with much better grip and handling.
Interior was great. We drove the Audi RS5 and the BMW M3 (as well as the Jag F-type R and 911 S in comparison of the GTS) and I have to say, after being in the Audi and BMW, getting back into the Benz was a welcome relief--almost a distinct area of solitude. All around, the C63 just felt better than those other two.
I drove a 2012 C250 for a couple years, now I have a 2005 CLK500. I've driven everything Mercedes and AMG makes right now, and most of their cars in the last decade or so.

Honestly, I think it's torquier down low despite losing 2.3 liters. Actually, I know it is, and the "hot v" setup allows for almost no boost lag, as the intake, intercoolers, and turbo housing are all within a foot of each other. It's revs just fine and I honestly couldn't find much about it I didn't like. It's a bad little rip-snorter that just begs for more.

There are 12 people at AMG whose soul job is working on exhaust sound, so they obviously take it seriously. It's the #3 reason people buy an AMG.

To each their own. The new W205 interior has been universally praised. The quality of the materials and the fit and finish make the cabin feel like a baby S-Class.
I've seen the new W205 interior in person (and have sat in the car) and it puts the W204 to shame. Roomier, more soft-touch materials, etc. And I quite like the W204 C63 interior. However, materials-wise and technology-wise, it simply doesn't come close to competing with the W205.

The new C63 was certainly more nimble than the current one, and I attribute that to the fact that the weight in the nose of the car has dropped. I think also Mercedes is purposely trying to make a better handling car. There was a big emphasis on erasing or transforming the stigma AMG has had in the past as mostly an engine company--stuffing a lot of power into an otherwise squishy, heavy car.

Even my hotel room key had an AMG GTS on it

Thanks This was my first event like this and I wasn't sure what to expect, or how large of an event it was going to be. Towards the end of the first day, I realized that almost everybody who was there from AMG actually flew in from Affalterbach, and that this was truly an "all hands on deck," event.

Exhaust is great. Not as "BRRRAAAAAAHHHHH" when you first fire it up, but still retains much of the classic AMG sound. Actually, sounds a lot like the M157.

Second: how did you get the opportunity? Do you work for a dealer, magazine, etc ?
Third: you can tell AMG pays a lot of attention to exhaust sound

Day two was driving on the street and up to a mountain pass. I thought "oh that'll be kinda fun, but I'm sure that we won't get to drive very hard..." I was wrong. Let's just say that I went faster on the public roads than I did on the track...

Hey, every dawg has his day! I was sent on behalf of my dealership (Mercedes-Benz of Seattle) as an AMG expert.

Lighter than the w204
More torque
Better handling dynamics
The upgraded interior is gravy
Exterior looks not high on my list
I did see my first w205 on the road recently and it looked good
The AMG version will only look better
More room, especially rear seat

Is it me or are there no paddle shifters in the C63 in the pics? Did I miss one or something?
