Had a bad day...
First you get your wheels stolen and then they tow your car. Really? Rough day for one of our brothers. Anybody on the board? This is painful.

That's some ****ed up ****. I was a lucky one. As the guys were stealing my 18" twin five spoke wheels and loading it into their van cops showed right up and caught the sons of *****es. Sucks that this happened, and on top of that towed like that on the rotors!?!? That's just horrible I feel for the owner. I know there will be suspension issues with that car for a fact. I hope he gets it situated whoever the owner is.

I found myself trying to piece this together...
Thought maybe they stole the car and this was its final resting place hence the recovery method of towing it.
Then I thought, if that were the case, they wouldn't have stopped at the wheels, those calipers and rotors are worth more than the wheels and tires.
Then I realized thieves aren't that bright....
You know, a lot of people say, I wish I would have caught them in the act, I would have.....
Well, most of these guys aren't running around stealing wheels without guns. I always say, be happy you never caught someone, these guys have nothing to lose but freedom and will do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Just a key note, unless you're packing heat (and even then think twice), let the **** go man.
Think smart and be safe guys.

From what I've been told most wheel thieves are petty criminals looking for easy targets and don't want confrontation, they want to in and out with the wheels as quickly as possible.
I've also been told wheel locks do practically nothing as the thieves have drill sockets that will rip them straight off.
been a string of wheel thefts in my neighborhood recently so thankfully mine is safely tucked away in the garage.

seeing this, its better to have the whole car torched by the thieves and you go buy another one. Damaged to brakes, suspension, and other underbody stuff. Being violated and knowing this everytime you get in to drive the car.

Thieves better run if I caught them stealing my wheels. Yes, I'm armed. A thief stealing wheels off a car in my driveway would be committing a felony, armed with a tire iron, and on my property. If the thief values his/her freedom they should turn and run.

The way most steal them is to tap a socket over the head of the key. It usually ruins the socket in the process. Though, new more advanced wheel keys have a free rotating outer housing, so it will just spin and not remove the bolt.

One lock per wheel doesn't do much... But run tuner lugs. Every bolt is keyed.

Good to know, the standard one's i've seen are nearly useless.

This is terrible. I live in MD about 25 minutes outside of DC. I'm in town every day though. Makes me sick. My mother in law bought a brand new platinum escalade with 22" wheels last year. The truck was maybe a month old and she woke up to it sitting on blocks. I live directly across the street from her but about 200' off the street. We watched the whole thing happen on my surveillance video.
Having several friends in law enforcement around here, I hear about all these task forces setup to crack down on this. The problem is they catch them and let them right back out on the street.
The thing about the escalade though, the tow company actually installed 4 junk tires and rims so that they could properly tow it away

Some hapless Mercedes owner not only lost his or her rims and tires to thieves, but his or her entire C63 AMG coupe to a wrecker.

Not to take away the attention of my fellow Mercedes owner, my car was not robbed of its wheel and rims nor was it towed by a senseless towing company with no basic feelings but, it was somewhat bathed in acid with smudges of blue paint. Thankfully my car is not a C63.
