Just get this..I have one and they are the same as Viper..rebranded..many installers available around Alberta...I also added the Drone so iphone starting and tracking works spanky
The point of the climate is you don't need a ton of extra junk on your keychain. It works with your OEM KeylessGo. It has seamless integration, it's not just bloat.
And to boot I use this "slice" which is ultra thin and two way and don't need the MB fob with/on me at all...for when I don't wish/have iphone or want faster response as the iphone can take 10-20 secs to react tot a command http://www.compustar.com/remote-star...F-2W940-SS.php
I have the midcity unit on my W212 and had one on my W211 before that. They work great. A tap on the panic button and the car fires right up. If you want remote start on a Benz this is the way to go. http://www.midcityengineering.com/smartkey-starter
Rediesel - do you remember how much these cost? Were they self-install or did you have to pay the dealership to do it?
I'm quite certain these (MidCity, Compustart, Viper..etal) all use the same base starter module (an adder module is required for keylessgo) then add modules to the base unit for
-security system add on
-drone (cell phone) add on
-different long range fobs from various companies
I don't know who designed that base unit..possibly MidCity Engineering..I did research it when I installed mine a year ago but no longer recall..

Don't recall exactly but was like $1,500 installed (depends on which remote you select...which determines range)with Drone module (iphone)...regarding Drone you get first year service fee free (cell access) then it's something like $99 per year..and to get vehicle tracking and the other goodies like if you have your kids using the car you can set a fence and speed and be advised if the fence is broken or speed is over set limit...this is another cost of....guessing again,,,$120
One could likely install themselves but in the ML case a module is attached to the keylessgo module which is under the rear deck panel and a wire must be run to the module in the dash and why would I want to for go warranty or potential issues...some things best let the pros do

I got them installed.
The first one on my W211 without keyless was $950, and the installer didn't have a shop (mobile installer) so I watched him do the 1.5 hour install in a parking lot. Install consisted of removing lots of trim and dash to get access at wire harnesses; everything was plug-and-play no splicing of wires.
On my W212 with keyless go I went to a MB dealer 60 miles away that installed them. It was $1295 some additional cost for keyless and some additional dealer profit. This car is under warranty so I wanted the install on a MB invoice. The job may be slightly easier for the dealer because they have a special tool to remove the ignition module if necessary; which many installers don't.
I have a unit like this on my car. It's offered through best buy. Though that's not where mine came from, but it's the best. Especially with my mods and how loud my car is it scares people who are standing next to the car when it starts.

Do you recall what brand it was? Is there a link to it on Best Buy's website? Thanks!
