It's the extra torque that is wearing out the stock tranny. You shouldn't have to worry about your tranny with LTH's if you're not launching your car at the strip all the time.

OP has a stage 2. I thought the tranny is capable of handling it. Is it just the stage 3 that requires a bullet proof tranny???

For those who are running consistent 10 second passes at the quarter mile, this puts major strain and heat in the transmission. It will eventually start to see signs of slippage. We hope this helps.

I think mr747 is running stage 2 and he blew through his tranny quickly.

The older 7G trannys arent as strong as the MCT. With the numbers he's putting down and the miles on the car I wouldn't expect it to last long. The full WOT shifts in high gears put tons of strain on the clutch packs.

The MCT version of the 722.9 is definitely an evolved version of the transmission. It runs larger planetary gears (more surface area on the teeth) has more clutch capacity, superior electronics and control, etc. It isn't stronger by much on the M156 equipped cars but in theory it is stronger.
The MCT that is equipped with the M157 cars does have various differences that make even a bit stronger. Hopes this give a better understanding.
