Thanks I'm trying to be as informative as possible and help anyone else trying to get on the top 10 1/4 mile list. LOL, I'm pretty motivated and I think my wife just wants me to be done with this so that I'll stop talking about it. As gearheads you and I both know it's only going to make the desire worse. Daily watching the weather and density altitude for Sacramento and it's looking really good, as well as staring out the front window ready to tackle the UPS guy.

It took me quite some time to find a pair that weren't full price, I'll keep my eyes peeled for some good deals. Not much else I can do while I wait for my helmet to arrive. I also procured a dadsc63 carbon fiber hood and a lightweight battery. One week from tomorrow...

the Nitto NT01 is a fantastic track tire and cost about half what the Hoosiers do. they arent R compound, but are extremely sticky, and will last a lot longer than the Hoosiers. I have had them on several of my track cars and love them, the guys at my track day groups all feel the same way. if money is no object, go for the Hoosiers, but these are a great option

Hoosiers as mentioned and bigger sidewall the better like a 50 series tire. Goodluck let us know what you run.

Question for you, did you beef up stock rearend?

I was looking at those for track days (road course), but since this is just for the drag strip I wanted the all or nothing drag radial race tire.

If I could have dropped down to a 16 without modding my rear brakes and/or spending huge money on custom wheels I would have definitely went for a bigger sidewall, this is pretty much the max size I can run on 17's. I didn't want to switch to a 28" tall tire as I think that will bog off the line.

I haven't touched the rear end yet, but this summer the modding will continue with an LSD and probably some weistec axles. I haven't heard any horror stories of breaking driveshafts or axles yet, at least not without a supercharger or without launch control (which I don't have anyway). Going to be preloading the drivetrain vs just smashing it off the line to take as much shock out of it as possible.

Fingers are crossed, had her on the lift for an oil change and a minor tune up yesterday. Having access to a lift and tools for $8 is such a lifesaver. Helps me keep the maintenance costs in check, and gives that satisfaction of doing all the work myself.
Couldn't be more excited.

So I guess this went from which slicks to get to a kind of small drag strip build thread. Picked up a shattered/cracked DadsC63 CF hood on here from a member pretty cheap, and was planning on running as is for the track, well...I started messing around with it yesterday and here is what happened...

And after hours of sanding and fiberglass and primer and more sanding...have a sweet plan for the track only hood which you will all see shortly...this has really become quite a fun and interesting build.

Thank you, that was actually my first time doing bodywork. I like to think I'm mechanically inclined, which is good since I'm an aircraft mechanic, but that was my first time dealing with fiberglass and leveling it out smooth enough to paint. Quite the experience!

You are going to switch hoods every time you go to the track?

Hood looks great by the way, I would go matt black hood and keep it.

Yeah. I got an extra set of latches and so the switch is easy with the help from a friend. It will be matte black actually, after I get off work tonight anyway. Just with a little twist...more on that later.

Well here is the update, went to the track last night. First off looks like I'm going again Saturday as I didn't get one good run all night. Attempted 5 runs and EVERY run I threw a code for a cylinder misfire in cylinder one. p0301. The first run it didn't start running rough until 3/4 down the track, and coasted to a 12.9@110. The other runs I got the misfire immediately at the 60ft. I threw one other code but I forgot to write it down, it was a fuel pump circuit "A" something to high. Either way I swapped the plugs out with a new one and the misfire returned. I have never had this issue prior, and I ordered a new coil pack for Saturday night.
What I can't figure out is why, the only difference between the track and driving every day was the EC V5 tune for 100 octane. I guess Saturday I'll stick to the 93 map and see if I can eliminate that as an option. Idk, just kind of upset that I got all of that ready just to gain a problem on the first run.

That sucks man. I'm sure you will get it right though. How did the slicks hold up?

New coil is in, so I guess we will see how it goes. The track prep was garbage and there was light rain all day to include a few times while in the pits, but 1.8 60ft was no problem, I'd say that really says a lot about them. EXTREMELY HAPPY with that purchase.

TGst.....so I just ordered the same wheels my friend from Amazon. I did get the matte dark gray/black wheels however. The warehouse just called to confirm fitment. They were a bit worried...hahaha. I told them the scoop and they felt much better. I don't think there is any difference between your vehicle and my 2014 regarding the rear hub/brake components. At least not something that would make a difference anyway on fittment. I purchased the 17x8, 5x112, 45mm offset wheels. Hoosiers are next! Then a half mile drag race in May!

That's the ones you wanted, just don't forget to get the hub centric rings for them. I forgot to mention that. 72 down to our 66.6 size. check the wheel specs for the exact size hub the wheels are, I believe 72.1 but I'm at work at the moment so difficult to look. Can't wait to hear your results!

Ahh....good to know!! I would have realized come Wednesday, when the wheels come in...lol. I'll fit the wheels before ordering the tires just in case, but I doubt I will have any issues. So I'll need the ring going from 72.1 (or whatever the new wheel is, I'll look on Wed) down to 66.6 (our stock hub size)? Do you know where you got the rings? Also they were probably plastic, no?

Thanks for the help man!! Much appreciated as always.....lol. Wes
