And if you're doing the grill, I recommend just removing it. It comes out so easily and then you spray it off the car.

My car has been in several different shops getting work done to it since I bought it in late January. All work has been done in an effort to "black out" the car - getting rid of ALL chrome/silver trim and freshening up faded black pieces

Shops are all AWESOME and all located in Columbus, OH.

-AAP (Automotiove Appearance Pros): 15% tint
-Wheel Medic: Wheels power-coated gloss black & side markers smoked
-Lizard Skinz: Chrome trim around windows vinyl-wrapped gloss black
-Eurotech: Gloss black paint - entire grill (including already black pieces within the bumper), DRL surrounds, chrome trim piece on trunk and all emblems.

To address the 5 emblems (3 on trunk: star, c 63, AMG... 1 on qtr panels: 6.3 AMG), I had originally plasti-dipped them black and gave them several coats of the "glossifier". However, the shininess of the plastidip glossifier cannot compare to the shininess of fresh gloss black paint from the body shop and it did not look good. Rather than take the old emblems off and paint them, Eurotech suggested that I purchase new emblems (in gloss black if possible) and they would put them on the car for me. The only ones I could not find in gloss black were the side emblems (6.3 AMG), so I bought a new set of those, the way they come from the factory, and Eurotech scuffed them and sprayed them gloss black.

In summary plastidip is OK, but if you want a true high gloss black it's better to purchase them in high gloss black or have a body shop spray them for you.

He is spot on about the gloss!! I am doing satin black instead of gloss black, so hopefully the glossifier works for me. Good luck!

Even though I said I found OEM ones on eBay still in the packaging will Mercedes part numbers. My thing was I wanted the plastidip to bond the best way possible. So I decided to do some light sanding of the emblem to make a rougher area, then prime the emblem and then plastidip. If you research on the Internet and even with plastidip themselves they say this is the best way to insure less pealing. I will try to upload a pic.

Just use plasti dip primer before you spray them. I take it you don't want to remove the coating.

To quote plasti dip " Only use Plasti Dip primer if you do NOT want to be able to peel off the coating "

I wasn't sure you could spray their primer over body panel paint and then remove it. Like I said just my choice. Just so if I needed I could return to stock very quickly. I could have the longest lasting possible emblems based on plastidips instructions.
