I had the resonator off for about a month and hated the snapping and raspy sound. Leaving the resonator doesnt steal any horses and it cleans up the sound about 65%. It really lost the AMG sound with the resonator off with long tube headers, reminded me of my friends Camaro, blah.

There are four diff C63s in the vids, mods ranging from MHP tune and LTs with off-road X pipe to one with a thermostat and another with thermostat and CF ram air inlets. My car is setup with the tune, headers and X, thermostat and CF ram air inlets and it's a BEAST.

I've been listening to videos on C63s forever (even before I was in the market for one to purchase), trying to understand everything and how each part of the exhaust changes volume, pitch, and grunt sounds.
The best I have heard is long tubes (deleted primaries) with deleted secondaries (straight pipe in place of secondaries). Everything else stock (stock resonator, stock mufflers). This maintains the AMG "bark" and sounds downright EVIL on partial and especially WOT.

LT Rasp
In listening to these video's I find the one that appeals to me the most is the secondary cat delete.
However I am looking at getting a set of Wiestec LTH's, downpipes and catless mid pipes. Many of the LTH vid's sound like they add quite a bit of rasp and raise the tone. I like the idea of more power, I would like a little more sound, I don't want to change the sound significantly.
The car already has difficulty with wheel spin with existing power when you mash the loud pedal, so really, other than dyno numbers and the fun of doing mods.
So two questions:
What would people say is the biggest payoff for LTH's?
Are all LTH's raspy to a degree? If so how are Weistec?

I'd be interested in some feedback on Wiestec exhaust too. Searched the w204 but dont seem to see many posts about their setup on our cars.

Finally finished my exhaust! ARH LTH with 200cel high flow cats to X Pipe. Then 3" SS with separate resonators to stock mufflers. Connected with Vbands. The video cuts out a little during the revs. (will be getting road video soon) IMO this really brought the tone down. Its still LOUD dont get me wrong, just sounds more throaty and refined. It may not "look" like the $3000 bolt ons but sounds great and a fraction of the cost.

IPE long tube headers with IPE catted mid-pipe, connected to stock resonator and silencers.
What I want to try is replacing the stock resonator with an X Pipe or a different resonator to bring down the rasp and deepen it, if anyone has suggestions.

I have heard almost every C63 exhaust systems by now.
Stop tinkering with x-pipes, etc. in your car or assembling a complete system (unless the weight of the car is important to you when racing, in which case use titanium).
The best sound and performance on an M156 is obtained by installing Long Tube Headers (no matter what brand), 200 cell sport catalysts, original middle silencer and original rear silencer.
If necessary the catalytic converters can be left out. But the middle and rear silencer must stay in place! This is the only way to get the typical AMG sound. Do not be fooled by videos.
This combination sound the best!

If I was to do it all over again, I would just buy the VRP (as they are only 700 bucks) or Armytrix ($950) cat delete pipes and be done with it. Have some 200 cell cats welded in if you want to kill the smell , car doesn't even throw a cat code on mine with the 200 cell cats and a rear O2 spacer. You can also buy the Amrytrix pipes with 200 cell cats in them but for 2 grand you are much cheaper to buy 100 bucks in cats and have them welded in yourself. I have never tried an X pipe but most recommended against it as it changes the sound and not for the better, do an H or straight all the way.
Your car will sounds like a monster for 1000 bucks and if you want it even louder go full headers any brand.

I think it sounds great but hard to tell on phone vids how the tone is exactly. Like I said in my long *** post above, I have a remus catback and it is their resonator and muffler. The system is 3", resonator has no H or X in it and it deepens the tone compared to stock but sounds still very much AMG, I have no rasp, but not running headers just cats all deleted with 200 cell race cats.
